Clayton Railway Station, Melbourne
Clayton railway station is located on the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines in Victoria, Australia. It serves the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Clayton, and opened on 6 January 1880 as Clayton's Road. It was renamed Clayton on 6 July 1891. History Opening on 6 January 1880, just over two years after the line from Oakleigh was extended to Dandenong, Clayton station, like the suburb itself, gets its name from the property ''Clayton Vale'', owned by John Clayton in the 1860s and 1870s. The property was located near the present day station. In 1967, the station was closed to goods traffic, with the goods siding abolished in the same year. In 1971, boom barriers replaced interlocked gates at the former Clayton Road level crossing, which was located at the Up end of the station. In 1998, Clayton was upgraded to a Premium Station. Public Transport Victoria
Public Transport Victoria (PTV) is the brand name for public transport in the Australian state of Victoria, Australia, Victoria. It was the trading name of the Go Public Transport Development Authority (PTDA), a now-defunct statutory authority in Victoria, responsible for providing, coordinating, and promoting public transport. In railway signalling, an interlocking is an arrangement of signal apparatus that prevents conflicting movements through an arrangement of tracks such as junction (rail), junctions or crossings. Boom Barrier
A boom barrier, also known as a boom gate, is a bar, or pole pivoted to allow the boom to block vehicular or pedestrian access through a controlled point. Typically the tip of a boom gate rises in a vertical arc to a near vertical position. Boom gates are often counterweighted, so the pole is easily tipped. Boom gates are often paired either end to end, or offset appropriately to block traffic in both directions. Some boom gates also have a second arm which hangs 300 to 400 mm below the upper arm when lowered, to increase approach visibility, and which hangs on links so it lies flat with the main boom as the barrier is raised. Oakleigh Railway Station
Oakleigh railway station is located on the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines in Victoria, Australia. It serves the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Oakleigh, and it opened on 8 October 1877. History In 1877, a separate station was constructed at the city ( Up) end of the railway line from Gippsland, with the current station site developed by 1879, when the line from South Yarra was completed. The station later served as the eastern end of both the Outer Circle and the Rosstown lines. Since 1989, the station has featured over 40 plywood cut-outs on its walls and surrounding the station. These illustrate the life-stories of Oakleigh residents, who were aged between 15 and 70, when the murals were unveiled in September of that year. They underwent restoration in 2002. Victorian Heritage Register
The Victorian Heritage Register (VHR) lists places deemed to be of cultural heritage significance to the State of Victoria, Australia. It has statutory weight under the Heritage Act 2017. The Minister for Planning is the responsible Minister.
