Adam Clawson
Adam Clawson (28 December 1972 – 10 July 2017) was an American slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 1988 to 1996. He won two medals at the 1991 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in Tacen with a gold in the C1 team event and a silver in the C1 event. Clawson also competed in two Summer Olympics, earning his best finish of 19th in the C1 event in Atlanta in 1996. Clawson was born in Salt Lake City. Augusta Holmes Clawson (June 23, 1903 – May 13, 1997) was an American civil servant, and writer of ''Shipyard Diary of a Woman Welder'', a diary about welding in World War II. Clawson was a graduate of Vassar. In 1943, she was assigned by the United States Office of Education to work undercover as a welder at the Swan Island Shipyard in order to discover the difficulties faced by women workers and the reasons many women welders were leaving the job shortly after completing training. Her book based on her experiences there, ''Shipyard Diary of a Woman Welder'', was published in 1944 by Penguin Books. She retired from government service in 1973. He currently serves as the head football coach at Wake Forest University, where he was named the 2021 ACC Coach of the Year. John Willard "Will" Clawson (January 18, 1858 – April 6, 1936) was an American, Utah-based artist, in the late-19th and early 20th-century. Biography Clawson was born to Hiram B. Clawson and his wife, the former Alice Young. Alice was a daughter of Brigham Young, and Clawson was born in the blue room of the Beehive House, which was built by Brigham Young for his wives and their families. Clawson studied at the University of Deseret, among his notable teachers there was George M. Ottinger. He married Mary Clark in the LDS Church Endowment House shortly before his departure for New York City to study at the National Academy of Design. He then returned to Salt Lake City where he was primarily involved in portrait painting although he preferred doing landscapes. Rudger Clawson (March 12, 1857 – June 21, 1943) was a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1898 until his death in 1943. He also served as President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles from 1921 until his death. For five days in 1901 he was a member of the First Presidency of the LDS Church.
