Claus Bendeke
Claus Bendeke (3 December 1763 – 29 May 1828) was a Norwegian jurist and government official. He served as a representative at the Norwegian Constitutional Assembly. Claus Bendeke was born at Vang in Hamar in Hedmark, Norway. He was the son of Magistrate and Chancellor Andreas Bendeke (1712-1780). In 1783, he became a student at Elsinore school in Helsingør and in 1788 he studied law. In 1795, he became merchant and whaling inspector in Greenland from a service location in Nuuk. He served as District Governor in Hedmark from 1804 to 1816. In September 1816, he was appointed Assessor in Christiania (now Oslo) Court and was Counselor from 1823. Bendek was married to Magdalene Cathrine Pihl (1787-1843), daughter of Abraham Pihl. The couple made their home at Kjonerud, a farm in Stange where they raised their family. North Greenland
The Northern Inspectorate of Greenland also known as North Greenland was a Danish inspectorate on Greenland consisting of the trading centers and missionary stations along the northwest coast of the island. History North Greenland was established in 1721. Its capital was at Godhavn (modern Qeqertarsuaq). The southernmost town of North Greenland was Egedesminde, which bordered Holsteinborg, which was the northernmost town of South Greenland. This boundary between North and South Greenland ran at around 68°N latitude, and in the North, North Greenland stretched to 78°N to enclose Thule. Nuuk
Nuuk (; da, Nuuk, formerly ) is the capital and largest city of Greenland, a constituent country of the Kingdom of Denmark. Nuuk is the seat of government and the country's largest cultural and economic centre. The major cities from other countries closest to the capital are Iqaluit and St. John's in Canada and Reykjavík in Iceland. Nuuk contains a third of Greenland's population and its tallest building. Nuuk is also the seat of government for the Sermersooq municipality. In January 2021, it had a population of 18,800. Lauritz Weidemann
Lauritz Weidemann (27 November 1775 – 1 August 1856) was a Norwegian judge, civil servant and politician. He served as county governor for almost 35 years, participated at the Norwegian Constituent Assembly in 1814, and was a member of the Parliament of Norway for several periods. Personal life Weidemann was born in Sukkestad, Østre Toten as the son of bailiff Lars Weidemann (1742–1826) and Maria Sommerfeldt (1754–1823). He was married to Ditlevine Marie Quist from 1797. Among his uncles were Christian Sommerfeldt and Ole Hannibal Sommerfeldt, both topographers and county governors. He was himself an uncle of ship constructor Hakon Adelsteen Sommerfeldt and psychiatrist Herman Wedel Major, first cousin of priest and botanist Søren Christian Sommerfeldt and grandfather of industrialist Sophus Weidemann. Nicolai Emanuel De Thygeson
Nicolai Emanuel de Thygeson or Niels Emanuel de Thygeson (19 April 1772–16 May 1860) was a Danish-Norwegian landowner and government official. The Thygeson family was originally a Danish noble family. Nevertheless, Thygeson was one of those who worked purposefully for Norway's secession from Denmark and the establishment of a Norwegian constitution. Career Thygeson was the County Governor of Hedemarkens amt from 1802 to 1804. In 1804, he was promoted and named the Diocesan Governor of Christianssand stiftamt. He held that job until 1810. He then returned to Denmark to run his estate there. In 1812, he was appointed to be the Diocesan Governor of Christiania stiftamt. Thygeson made a name for himself when, in the dramatic days of September 1807, he (as the Governor) ordered a British warship to be protected with cannons at Christiansholm Fortress. Eidsvoll (; sometimes written as ''Eidsvold'') is a municipality in Akershus in Viken county, Norway. It is part of the Romerike traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Sundet. General information Etymology The first element is the genitive case of the word ''eid'' (Old Norse: ''eið'') and the last element is ''voll'' (Old Norse: ''vǫllr'') which means "meadow" or "field".
