Clarksville Fox
The Clarksville Fox is a football team in the Independent Women's Football League. Based in Clarksville, Tennessee, the Fox play their home games on the campus of Northwest High School. History 2007 The Fox were formed in 2007 as a member of the Women's Football League. Their inaugural season was successful, finishing 4-2 on the regular season and earning a berth in the Championship Game, where the Fox lost to the Jacksonville Dixie Blues by a score of 49-6. 2008 After the WFL went moribund, the Fox applied for, and were subsequently accepted into, full membership in the IWFL. Playing in the Tier II Mid-South Division alongside the Shreveport Aftershock and Louisiana Fuel, the Fox finished 7-1 and won the Mid-South Division title and a spot in the Tier II playoffs. Following their 32-0 victory over the New England Intensity in the semifinals, the Fox advanced to the IWFL Tier II Championship Game, where they lost 29-6 to the Montreal Blitz. Independent Women's Football League
The Independent Women's Football League (IWFL) was the first Women's American football league established by women players for women players. The league was founded in 2000, began play in 2001, and played its last season in 2018. Members of the original roster of the Austin Outlaws were the league's founders. Following the establishment of the league as a separate entity from the team, former outlaws players Laurie Frederick, Jaime Bailey and Sandra Plato became the original IWFL executive council. The Memphis Belles were a women's professional tackle football team and members of the Independent Women's Football League. Based in Memphis, Tennessee, the Memphis Belles played their 2010 home games at Halle Stadium football field in Memphis, Tennessee. At one point, in their fourth year of operation, the Memphis Belles were the longest-running women's tackle football team in Memphis history. In their inaugural season (2008), the Memphis Belles played in the National Women's Football Association. When the NWFA folded in 2009, the Memphis Belles moved to the Women's Football Alliance. In 2010, the Memphis Belles moved to the Independent Women's Football League, the longest-running and most successful league in the history of Women's Professional Tackle Football, where they made the Midwest Divisional Playoffs. Tennessee Valley Tigers
The Huntsville Tigers is a women's American football team located in Huntsville, Alabama. The Tigers played their first season of full-contact football in the spring of 2012. This was the Tigers' first season as a new team. The team consists of former Alabama Renegades and Tennessee Valley Tigers players as well as a number of new players. History Alabama Renegades Women's football has existed in the Huntsville area since the fall of 2000 when the Alabama Renegades first came into existence. The Renegades were one of the founding teams of the National Women's Football Association (NWFA). The Kansas City Tribe is a football team in the Women's Football Alliance based in Kansas City, Missouri. Home games are played at Center High School. History 2008 Founded by Colin Stoner, John Van Sittert, and Mindy White, the Tribe began as a member of the Independent Women's Football League and was their return to the Kansas City market after the Kansas City Storm left for the NWFA. In their inaugural season, the Tribe finished at 4-4, good for second place in the Mid-South Division. 2009 The Tribe's breakout year would be its sophomore one, however. Finishing at 7–1, the Tribe clinched its first ever playoff spot and Midwest Division title. Atlanta Xplosion
The Atlanta Xplosion, known as the Atlanta Ravens for the year of 2011, was a football team in the Independent Women's Football League. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, the Xplosion played their home games in nearby Smyrna, Georgia at Campbell High School. History 2003 The Xplosion was formed in 2003 as an IWFL exhibition team ("X-Team") from the players and staff of the defunct Atlanta Leopards team which played the NWFA. The Beniamino family was involved in all aspects of the team; in addition to the breadwinner Phil owning the team, his wife Denise played for the Xplosion (she played her husband's typical position of linebacker and wore his #33 uniform number). Even their daughter Kylie had her own unique role, as she was the one who first thought up the Xplosion name.
