Clarkeinda
''Clarkeinda'' is a genus of fungi in the family Agaricaceae. According to the ''Dictionary of the Fungi'', the widespread genus contains five species. Species in this genus, especially '' Clarkeinda trachodes'', are only distributed in south Asia and southeast Asia. Taxonomy Otto Kuntze circumscribed the genus in 1891. The first part of the generic name ''Clarkeinda'' honors British botanist Charles Baron Clarke, and -''inda'' is derived from the Greek 'Iνδóς, meaning "pertaining to India". ''Clarkeinda trachodes'' is a poisonous mushroom in the family Agaricaceae. This agaric species is only distributed in South and Southeast Asia in countries such as Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka. It has both a partial and universal veil, and dark-colorer spores. The official description of the species (as ''Agaricus trachodes'') was first given by Miles Joseph Berkeley in 1847, from collections made in Sri Lanka. Rolf Singer transferred it to the genus ''Clarkeinda ''Clarkeinda'' is a genus of fungi in the family Agaricaceae. Charles Baron Clarke
Charles Baron Clarke (17 June 1832 – 25 August 1906) was a British botanist. He was born at Andover, Hampshire, Andover, the eldest son of Turner Poulter Clarke. He was educated at King's College School, London, and at Trinity College, Cambridge, Trinity and Queens' College, Cambridge, Queens' Colleges, Cambridge. He began the study of law at Lincoln's Inn in 1856 and was called to the bar in 1860. He lectured in mathematics at Presidency University, Kolkata, Presidency College, Kolkata, Calcutta, from 1857 to 1865. Clarke was Inspector of Schools in East Bengal, Eastern Bengal and later of India, and superintendent of the Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden, Calcutta Botanical Garden from 1869 to 1871. He retired from the Indian Civil Service in 1887. He was president of the Linnean Society from 1894 to 1896, and was elected a fellow of the Royal Society in 1882. The Agaricaceae are a family of basidiomycete fungi and include the genus ''Agaricus'', as well as basidiomycetes previously classified in the families Tulostomataceae, Lepiotaceae, and Lycoperdaceae. Taxonomy The family Agaricaceae was published by French botanist François Fulgis Chevallier in 1826. It is named after the type genus ''Agaricus'', originally circumscribed by Carl Linnaeus in his 1753 work ''Species Plantarum''. Basidiomycota () is one of two large divisions that, together with the Ascomycota, constitute the subkingdom Dikarya (often referred to as the "higher fungi") within the kingdom Fungi.
