Clarence Kolster
Clarence Kolster (September 6, 1895 – May 6, 1972) was an American film editor, active during the later years of the silent era, right through the 1950s. Biography Born in Plattsburgh, New York, in 1895, Clarence began his film career editing the 1922 silent film ''Rags to Riches''. During his 30-year career, he would edit almost 100 films, in addition to working as assistant director on the 1924 film ''The Lighthouse by the Sea''. His career would include such classics as ''The Painted Desert'', also in 1931, which featured Clark Gable's first speaking role; the 1946 remake of ''Of Human Bondage''; ''Always Leave Them Laughing'', starring Milton Berle and Virginia Mayo; and 1958's ''Our Miss Brooks'' starring Eve Arden. But Kolster's crowning achievement was his first mega-hit, the 1931 version of ''Frankenstein'', starring Boris Karloff. Plattsburgh
Plattsburgh ( moh, Tsi ietsénhtha) is a city in, and the seat of, Clinton County, New York, United States, situated on the north-western shore of Lake Champlain. The population was 19,841 at the 2020 census. The population of the surrounding (and separately incorporated) Town of Plattsburgh was 11,886 as of the 2020 census, making the combined population for all of greater Plattsburgh to be 31,727. Plattsburgh lies just to the northeast of Adirondack Park, immediately outside of the park boundaries. ''Havana Widows'' is a 1933 American pre-Code comedy film directed by Ray Enright, starring Joan Blondell and Glenda Farrell. It was released by Warner Bros. on November 18, 1933. Two chorus girls travel to Havana in search of rich husbands. Their target is Deacon Jones, a self-appointed moralist who cannot drink without getting drunk. The film is the first of a series of five movies by Warner Bros. where Blondell and Farrell were paired as blonde bombshell comedy team, throughout the early 1930s. Plot Eddie Haskins (Lease), a wisecracking young man, teams up with two ham-acrobats known as 'Bugs & Sunny' (Karns and Summerville). When they are all kicked out of a vaudeville theater in California, they enlist in the U. S. Cavalry. Eddie falls in love with Dorothy Clark (Gulliver), the daughter of a sergeant and, following a moonlight tryst, they are discovered by Sergeant Hank Darby (London) who himself is in love with Dorothy. They have a fist-fight in which Eddie comes out second best. ''Peacock Alley'' is a 1930 American pre-Code musical romantic drama film directed by Marcel de Sano, and starring Mae Murray and George Barraud. The film is a remake of the 1922 silent film of the same name in which Murray also stars. Aside from Murray being cast in the lead, the remake was largely different from the 1922 silent film. While Murray's character in the 1922 film was named Cleo, she was renamed Claire Tree in this film. George Barraud replaced Monte Blue as the male lead, who is now named Clayton Stoddard. The film was shot in black-and-white except for a two-color Technicolor sequence in which Murray tangos and impersonates both a toreador and a bull. Plot Johnny Ginsberg, a tailor's apprentice who aspires to be a famous magician, joins a carnival troupe that stops in the town and doubles for sideshow attractions.
