Clara Zetkin Medal
The Clara Zetkin Medal was a national award in the German Democratic Republic. It was created by the country's Council of Ministers on 18 February 1954 in order to honour the life and work of Clara Zetkin, whom the Marxist establishment regarded as one of the most significant female leaders in the history of the German people. The medal was awarded for outstanding achievements in developing and advancing the country's socialist society. Those honoured were frequently professional women whose job performance had been exemplary while combined with maternal duties, reflecting the new role of women in modern socialist society. Clara Zetkin
Clara Zetkin (; ; ''née'' Eißner ; 5 July 1857 – 20 June 1933) was a German Marxist theorist, communist activist, and advocate for women's rights. Until 1917, she was active in the Social Democratic Party of Germany. She then joined the Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany (USPD) and its far-left wing, the Spartacist League. This later became the Communist Party of Germany (KPD), which she represented in the Reichstag during the Weimar Republic from 1920 to 1933. Peace is a concept of societal friendship and harmony in the absence of hostility and violence.
