Claire Jane Peacock (also Casey) is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street''. Portrayed by Julia Haworth, the character first appeared onscreen during the episode airing on 9 April 2003, as the new nanny of established character Ashley Peacock's (Steven Arnold) son Joshua (Benjamin Beresford). Her storylines have since seen her fall in love with and marry Ashley, developing post natal depression after giving birth to their son Freddie. Claire was originally intended to be central to a long-running child abduction storyline, however, this was dropped by the show's producers as a result of its close resemblance to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. The character has been criticised by ''Coronation Street'''s former executive producer David Liddiment, for being used as a vehicle to support a politicised corporate campaign, encouraging social action and volunteer work. David Liddiment
David Liddiment (born 20 September 1952) is Creative Director of the independent production company All3Media. He is also an associate of The Old Vic Theatre Company and a member of the BBC Trust, the governing body of the British Broadcasting Corporation. Liddiment was director of programmes and channels at ITV (1997–2002), a role in which he was portrayed by actor Risteárd Cooper in the ITV drama Quiz in 2020. He later became head of entertainment at the BBC (1993–1995). His programme commissions included ''Pop Idol'', ''Fat Friends'', and ''Men Behaving Badly''. While working for Granada Television, he was an executive producer on ''Coronation Street'' (1987–1991). Chesney Brown (also Battersby-Brown) is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street'', played by Sam Aston. He made his first on-screen appearance on 10 November 2003. Wendi Louise Peters (born 29 February 1968) is an English actress. Peters began her acting career in theatre, with appearances in various productions including ''The Scarlet Pimpernel'' (1991), ''Guys and Dolls'' (1991), ''Into the Woods'' (1992), '' Bedroom Farce'' (1996) and ''Noises Off'' (1997). Cilla Petunia Aurelia Brown (formerly Battersby-Brown) is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera '' Coronation Street'', played by Wendi Peters. Manchester Metrolink (branded locally simply as Metrolink) is a tram/ light rail system in Greater Manchester, England.
