Civic Type R
The is a series of high-performance hatchback/ sedan models based on the Civic, developed and produced by Honda since September 1997. The first Civic Type R was the third model to receive Honda's Type R badge (after the NSX and Integra). Type R versions of the Civic typically feature a lightened and stiffened body, specially tuned engine, and upgraded brakes and chassis, and are offered only in five- or six-speed manual transmission. Like every other Type R models, red is used in the Honda badge background to give it a special sporting distinction and to separate it from other models. Close-ratio Transmission
A close-ratio transmission describes a motor vehicle transmission with a smaller than average difference between the gear ratios. They are most often used on sports cars in order to keep the engine in the power band. There is no industry standard as to what constitutes a close-ratio transmission, a transmission that one manufacturer terms close-ratio may not necessarily be considered close-ratioed by another manufacturer. Generally speaking, the more gears a transmission has, the closer they are together. A continuously variable transmission has a near infinite "number" of gear ratios, which implies an infinitely close-ratio between gears. However, with no specific gear ratios, it would not be considered a close-ratioed transmission. The K-series engines are equipped with DOHC valvetrains and use roller rockers on the cylinder head to reduce friction. The engines use a coil-on-plug, distributorless ignition system with a coil for each spark plug. This system forgoes the use of a conventional distributor-based ignition timing system in favor of a computer-controlled system that allows the ECU to control ignition timings based on various sensor inputs. Honda UK Manufacturing
Honda of the UK Manufacturing Ltd (informally HUM) was a British automotive manufacturing company, and the United Kingdom-based manufacturing subsidiary of the multinational automotive company Honda. Based in Swindon, England, HUKM operated manufacturing plants that included casting, engine assembly, pressing, welding, painting, and car assembly activities. At the time of its closure, it employed around 3,400 people at the plants, which occupied a site covering around 370 acres. Honda has made a total investment of over £1.5 billion in the Swindon plants. In 2008, HUKM produced 230,423 cars. By 2016 annual unit production was down to 134,146 units, although this still represented an increase of 12.3% over the figure for 2015.
