City Council Of San Sebastián
The City Council of San Sebastián ( eu, Donostiako Udala, es, Ayuntamiento de San Sebastián) is the institution that governs the Basque Country (autonomous community), Basque city of San Sebastián (Spain). Its premises are located in the former casino of the city next to the Bay of La Concha. Building The building was built up in 1887 at the Gardens of Alderdi-Eder of San Sebastián, next to the Nautical Royal Club, to house the main casino. The opening ceremony was attended by the Queen Maria Christina of Austria. However, it closed as a casino after the ban on gambling in 1924. On April 14, 1928, an agreement was reached to open in this building the Center of Attraction and Tourism, later this moving to a building next to the Hotel María Cristina. On January 20, 1945, the council moved to this building. The architects Alday and Arizmendi amended the initial project in 1943 and turned the former casino into council. Euskadiko Ezkerra (EE; en, Basque Country Left) was a Basque socialist political organisation. It was founded as a coalition of Euskal Iraultzarako Alderdia (EIA, ''Basque Party for Revolution'' or ''Party for Basque Revolution'') and other Basque Marxist forces in 1977 to present lists for the Spanish general elections in the constituencies of Vizcaya, Guipúzcoa and Álava, while Navarrese Left Union (UNAI), an allied coalition, was to present a list in the constituency of Navarre. Herri Batasuna (; en, Popular Unity; HB) was a far-left Basque nationalist coalition in Spain. It was founded in 1978 and defined itself as abertzale, left-wing, socialist, and supported the independence of the Greater Basque Country. It was refounded as Batasuna in 2001 and subsequently outlawed by the Spanish Supreme Court for being considered the political wing of the separatist group Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA). Eneko Goia
Eneko Goia Laso (born 30 October 1971) is a Spanish politician of the Basque Nationalist Party (EAJ-PNV). He was elected to the City Council of San Sebastián in 2011 as the party's leader, and was elected mayor in 2015. He previously served in the Basque Parliament from 2005 to 2007, and the Deputation of Gipuzkoa from 2007 to 2011. Biography Goia was born and raised in the Amara neighbourhood of San Sebastián in the Basque Country; as of 2015 he is married and has two sons and a daughter. He is a member and shareholder in San Sebastián football club Real Sociedad. Goia graduated in Law from the University of the Basque Country and in Community Law from the University of Deusto.
