City Channel (Dublin)
City Channel Dublin was a cable television channel operating in Dublin, Republic of Ireland licensed by the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland for cable and MMDS operation. It had carriage on the formerly NTL owned digital cable system in Dublin. It was the first attempt at a commercial local television network and commercial cable-only channel in the country. City Channel Dublin closed in September 2011 after filing for bankruptcy. On 16 September 2005 the channel was added to NTL Ireland's electronic programme guide on Channel 107, and programming began on 4 October. The company was headed by former Radio Telefís Éireann (RTÉ) presenter David Harvey and opened City Channels for Galway and Waterford in early 2006 with about 85% shared content with the rest being local content. City Channel
City Channel was an Irish television network that began broadcasting in October 2005, which focused primarily on local and regional television. It operated three stations: City Channel Dublin, City Channel Galway, and Channel South. The channel was replaced by RTÉ One +1 on 13 March 2012. Launch City Channel was given a licence by the BCI (now the BAI) on 31 January 2005 and began broadcasting in October 2005. City Channel was originally launched on the NTL and Chorus cable services in Dublin, Galway and Waterford, however all four services were available on the digital services of UPC Ireland. The company was also granted a licence for a fourth station called City 7, which would have been targeted at Dublin's Eastern Europeans. David Harvey (television)
David Harvey is an Irish media executive and broadcaster on radio and television. Early life Harvey grew up in Cabinteely, south Dublin. He was educated at Blackrock College and Trinity College Dublin. His father Gerry Harvey ended his career as CEO of An Post and was also the founder and chairman of the National Lottery. His grandfather, Jimmy Harvey, played soccer for Ireland, Shelbourne and Leeds, and was a comedian and member of the theatrical "Happy Gang" of the 1930s and 1940s. Career In his native Ireland, he is best known as the presenter of '' Crimeline'' on Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ), Ireland's national broadcaster. FM104 is an independent local radio station broadcast across Dublin, Ireland, on the frequency 104.4 MHz. It is operated by Capital Radio Productions Limited (unconnected with, and not to be confused with, Capital Radio plc), and is a subsidiary of the Wireless Group, which itself is a subsidiary of News UK. The station broadcasts under a contract from the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland. FM104 broadcasts from Macken House in Dublin's Docklands.
