Cinema Of Tajikistan
In parallel to what happened in other Soviet republics, a cinema of Tajikistan was promoted by the Soviet state, and declined in the first years after the independence, before being revitalized through the efforts of the new government. Origins: the 1920s and 1930s The Soviet state founded Tajikfilm in the 1920s. Initially, its main productions were monthly newsreels titled ''Soviet Tajikistan''. Tajikfilm was led by Artem Shevich, Nikolay Gezulin, and Vasiliy Kuzin. Their 1929 footage of the arrival of the first train ever in Dushanbe is of historical significance. In 1930, Tajikkino (later called Stalinabad Film Studio and Tajikfilm since the 1950s) was established to produce movies locally. The first productions of Tajikkino were documentaries, some of them directed by the Tajik actor Kamil Yarmatov, who had already starred in Soviet films realized outside of Tajikistan. UNESCO Institute For Statistics
The UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) is the statistical office of UNESCO and is the UN depository for cross-nationally comparable statistics on education, science and technology, culture, and communication. The UIS was established in 1999. Bakhtyar Khudojnazarov
Bakhtyar Khudojnazarov (Russian/ tg, Бахтиёр Худойназаров, fa, بختیار خداینظرف) (May 29, 1965 – April 21, 2015) was a film director, producer and screenwriter from Tajikistan. His most internationally famous film is the comedy '' Luna Papa'' (1999). He won a Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival for his film '' Kosh ba kosh'' (1993). In 2000 he was a member of the jury at the 22nd Moscow International Film Festival. Khudojnazarov lived in Berlin, Germany, from 1993 and died from a short illness aged 49. Pamir Languages
The Pamir languages are an areal group of the Eastern Iranian languages, spoken by numerous people in the Pamir Mountains, primarily along the Panj River and its tributaries. The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) is an annual film festival held at the end of January in various locations in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. ''True Noon'' ( Tajik transliteration: Qiyomi roz) is a 2009 Tajik film directed by Nosir Saidov. It was chosen as official selection in 2009 for the International Film Festival Rotterdam. ''True Noon'' became the first Tajik film which made it to distribution in Tajikistan in 18 years, i.e. since independence. It was also aired at the Marrakech International Film Festival. The film was originally funded by Talco Management, a domestic company. However, the funding stopped due to the economic crisis, and Saidov had to search for funding in Europe. The film deals with the changes and unease caused in the common man's life by the government, about which he cares nothing. The state acts only to control its citizens and does not add anything to their life.
