CinemAsia Film Festival
CinemAsia Film Festival (Amsterdam, the Netherlands) is a leading Asian film festival in Europe. The first edition of CinemAsia was in 2004 and started as a biannual film festival. Since 2012, the festival is an annual film festival held in March. The festival has a focus on independent Asian films, and the film program consists of the best and most recent fiction and documentary in all genres from Asia. In this way the festival enhances the Asian visibility in culture and media. The most famous awards of the festival are the Audience Award and the Jury Award. History When the San Francisco-born, Hong Kong-raised director Doris Yeung moved to Amsterdam in 2002, she immediately started looking for ways to contribute to Asian culture in The Netherlands positively. Rahi Anil Barve
''Tumbbad'' is a 2018 Indian/Swedish Hindi-language Period drama, period horror film film directed by Rahi Anil Barve. Additionally, Anand Gandhi served as the creative director, and Adesh Prasad served as the co-director. Written by Mitesh Shah, Prasad, Barve, and Gandhi, the film was produced by Sohum Shah (actor), Sohum Shah, Aanand L. Rai, Mukesh Shah and Amita Shah. Starring Sohum Shah in the lead role as Vinayak Rao, it follows the story of his search for a hidden treasure in the 20th century India village of Tumbbad, Maharashtra. Barve began writing the script based on a story a friend had told him about in 1993, by Marathi people, Marathi writer Narayan Dharap. He wrote the first draft in 1997, when he was 18 years old. Zhang Yang (director)
Zhang Yang (; born 1967) is a Chinese film director, screenwriter, and occasional actor. He is the son of film director, Zhang Huaxun. Zhang grew up in Beijing, studied until 1988 at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangdong, from which he graduated with a degree in Chinese literature, and then went to the Central Academy of Drama, graduating in 1992. Career Zhang Yang uses a realistic style, and achieved great recognition for his 1999 independent production '' Xizao'' (; English translation: ''Shower''), which was successful at Chinese box offices as well as international film festivals. ''Getting Home'' () is a 2007 Chinese comedy/drama film directed by Zhang Yang and starring Chinese comedian Zhao Benshan. It is episodic and follows two workers in their 50s, Zhao (Zhao Benshan) and Liu (Hong Qiwen). The film opens when Liu unexpectedly dies after a night of drinking and Zhao decides to fulfill a promise to his friend to get him home, beginning a long odyssey from Shenzhen to Chongqing with Liu's corpse on his back. Along the way, Zhao meets a variety of figures, played by several of China's better known character actors. ''Getting Home'' is Zhang Yang's fifth feature film. Fruit Chan Gor (; born 15 April 1959) is a Hong Kong Second Wave filmmaker who is best known for his style of film reflecting the everyday life of Hong Kong people.
