Cine5
Cine5 was the first subscription-based television channel in Turkey. It aired in an encrypted format and primarily broadcast feature-length movies when it was founded on September 20, 1993. Subscribers were required to buy a decoder to watch the channel. The number of subscribers reached over half a million. However, in recent years, it enlarged its program spectrum due to competition from other movie-based channels and removed encryption and the subscription policy on January 16, 2006. Show TV
Show TV is a nationwide television channel in Turkey owned by Albayrak Holding since 2018, acquired from Sadık Albayrak which in turn seized from Ciner Media Group after Turgay Ciner was forced to sell due to tax debts. The channel replaces Cine5's now-defunct frequencies, and it was originally established by the Turkish businessmen Erol Aksoy and Haldun Simavi, although it were originally launched on March 1, 1991, when it commences its test transmissions. A year later, the channel moved its headquarters to Istanbul, Turkey, and were at the same time starting its official broadcasts. Show TV extended its range of viewers by adding more channels like Show Max and Show Turk to its group. Al Jazeera Türk
Al Jazeera Türk (AJT) was a news website in Turkish. It was owned by the Al Jazeera Media Network. Attempts to launch a television network do not appear to have succeeded. The website was shut down on 3 May 2017. Early background and first launch attempt In February 2011, the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund of Turkey put Cine5 up for sale after the channel was confiscated when the owner Erol Aksoy went in debt and became bankrupt. Al Jazeera made a bid for the network and acquired it for $40.5 million after an unsuccessful $21 million bid. Al Jazeera then renamed the channel and is currently working on launching Al Jazeera Turkish. In April 2012, there were reports of the channel being delayed over its refusal to call the Kurdistan Workers Party as "terrorists" as most Turkish news outlets do, citing journalistic standards. 576i is a standard-definition television, standard-definition digital video mode, originally used for digitizing analog television in most countries of the world where the utility frequency for electric power distribution is 50 Hz. Uğur Dündar (born 28 August 1943) is a Turkish journalist, anchorman, political commentator, and writer. He was born in Akören village of Silivri district in Istanbul Province. He graduated from Istanbul University's Institute of Journalism. He joined Turkish Radio and Television Corporation in 1970 and built a journalistic career over more than 20 years. Erman Refik Toroğlu (born 24 November 1948) is a Turkish former association football player, FIFA-level referee and, current pundit and sports columnist. Career Toroğlu earned his FIFA badge in 1989. The Süper Lig (, ''Super League''), officially known as Spor Toto Süper Lig for sponsorship reasons, is a Turkish professional league for association football clubs. It is the top-flight of the Turkish football league system and is run by the Turkish Football Federation. In the 2022–23 season, nineteen clubs compete, where a champion is decided and three clubs are promoted from, and relegated to the 1. Lig. The season runs from August to May, with each club playing 36 matches. Matches are played Friday through Monday. The competition was initially established in 1923. The league succeeded the Turkish Football Championship and the National Division, both being former top-level national competitions. Ahmet Yıldırım Benayyat (born 18 October 1945), better known as Yıldo, is a famous Turkish showman (talk show host), actor, retired football and volleyball player. Biography Early life Yıldo was born in Konya, Turkey. He studied high school in several different cities of Turkey due to his father's job. He completed his university education in Istanbul Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences (Marmara University), economics department in 1973. Mehmet Ali Birand (9 December 1941 – 17 January 2013) was a Turkish journalist, political commentator and writer. Biography He was born to İzzet and his wife Mürvet on 9 December 1941 in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. His mother was of Kurdish descent. He completed his high school education at Galatasaray High School. Career Birand began his journalism career in 1964 by writing in the newspaper ''Milliyet''. In 1992, he joined Show TV and presented the news. Birand began hosting a political show titled ''32.
