Cimbres Marian Apparition
Cimbres Marian apparition is a series of visions of the Virgin Mary that occurred in 1936 and 1937 in Northeastern Brazil, in the Pernambuco state municipality of Pesqueira, district of Cimbres. Context According to what is believed, the Virgin Mary would have appeared to two seers, Maria da Luz (who later adopted the name Adélia on the occasion of her entry into religious life) and Maria da Conceição, who, at the time of the facts, were poor and uneducated adolescents. The apparition happened in an exposed inselberg near the girl's family house, partially covered by thorny bushes and slippery moss, and next to deep gullies, a place dangerous to reach on foot. Though the climate there is semiarid, after the apparition the inselberg started flowing potable water. These events became famous for the rigor with which they were ascertained by the German missionary Fr. Joseph Kehrle, who was answered by the illiterate girls in both Latin and German languages, as well as for the ...

Paratió Language
Paratió (also called Prakió) is an extinct and poorly attested language of Brazil. It appears to have been related to Xukuru. It was originally spoken on the Capibaribe River, and was reported by Loukotka (1968) to have been spoken by a few individuals in Cimbres. As of the 1900s, the Xukuru population still had some recollection of the Paratió population, however the Paratió's geographical location suggests that they could be ancestors of the Kapinawá The Kapinawâ are an indigenous people of Buíque, Pernambuco in eastern Brazil. In addition to their primary residence in Buíque Buíque is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Pernambuco, mesoregion of Agreste. It has an estimated popul .... Agreste
The agreste (, "countryside") is a narrow zone of Brazil in the states of Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe and Bahia between the coastal forest ''zona da mata'' and the semiarid ''sertão''. The agreste fades out after it reaches Rio Grande do Norte due to the break of the mountain-chain that blocks air currents from the Atlantic ocean. This barrier is what induces high rainfalls in the coastal Atlantic forest zone. Most of the agreste is hilly, its hills becoming higher at south, except near the narrow valley of São Francisco River. This land is mostly used for mixed farming, prevailing fruits, of which melons have especial importance. Like the sertão, the agreste is frequently affected by drought, though generally with less severe effects. Only some highland regions mostly in Pernambuco, where cities like Garanhuns and Triunfo are located, are able to reach temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius for a part of the year, usually coinciding with the s ...
