Churu is a city in the desert region of Rajasthan state of India. It is known as the gateway to the Thar Desert of Rajasthan. It is the administrative headquarter of Churu District. It lies in the Thar Desert on the National Highway 52 connecting Sangrur to Ankola and is a junction station on the railway line to Bikaner. It is near the shifting sand dunes of the Thar Desert and has grand havelis with marvelous fresco paintings, namely ''Kanhaiya Lal Bagla Ki Haweli'' and ''Surana Haweli'', with hundreds of small windows. Mohar Singh Rathore (5 January 1926 – 22 June 1985) was a social reformer & political Congress worker. He was a follower of Arya Samaji and Acharya Vinoba Bhave's Bhoodan movement (land donation movement). Rajendra Rathore (born 21 April 1955) is an Indian politician who is serving as leader of opposition in Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. 2018 Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Election
The Indian National Congress became the single largest party with 100 seats, short of majority by 1 seat. The Bharatiya Janata Party won 73 seats, much lower compared to the previous election in which it won an absolute majority of 163 seats.
