Sestieri Di Venezia
A (plural: ) is a subdivision of certain Italian towns and cities. The word is from (‘sixth’), so it is thus used only for towns divided into six districts. The best-known example is the ''sestieri'' of Venice, but Ascoli Piceno, Genoa, Milan and Rapallo, for example, were also divided into ''sestieri''. The medieval Lordship of Negroponte, on the island of Euboea, was also at times divided into six districts, each with a separate ruler, through the arbitration of Venice, which were known as ''sestieri''. The island of Crete, a Venetian colony (the "Kingdom of Candia") from the Fourth Crusade, was also divided into six parts, named after the ''sestieri'' of Venice herself, while the capital Candia retained the status of a ''comune'' of Venice. San Bartolomeo Di Venezia
San Bartolomeo (Saint Bartholomew) is a church in Venice, Italy. It is near the Rialto Bridge in the ''sestiere'' (district) of San Marco. History The church was supposedly founded in 830, and was originally dedicated to Saint Demetrius of Thessaloniki. It was renovated in 1170, and became the church of the German community in Venice, whose commercial headquarters were nearby at the Fondaco dei Tedeschi. The church was rebuilt again in the 18th century. The bell tower was built in 1747–54 based on designs of Giovanni Scalfarotto. Art works The interior has two sculptures by the Venetian sculptor of German origin Enrico Merengo (Heinrich Meyring). On the right is an altarpiece by Lattanzio Querena of the ''Death of Francesco Saverio'' (1836). An altarpiece of ''Saint Michael'' (1798) is by Pietro Novelli. San Vidal, Venice
San Vidal (San Vitale) is a former church, and now an event and concert hall located at one end of the Campo Santo Stefano in the Sestiere of San Marco, where it leads into the campiello San Vidal, and from there to the Ponte dell'Accademia that spans the Grand Canal and connects to the Sestiere of Dorsoduro, Venice, Italy. History A church at the site was erected in the year 1084 by Doge Vitale Falier. This church was destroyed in 1105 by a major city fire. Reconstruction continued for centuries and was finished by the 16th century. But poor foundations led to a renewed reconstruction in the 17th century, using designs Antonio Gaspari. It was rebuilt in 1696 to honor the former Doge Francesco Morosini. On the facade (1734–37), designed by Andrea Tirali, are sculpted portraits of the Doge Carlo Contarini and his wife Paolina. Santo Stefano Di Venezia
The Chiesa di Santo Stefano (Church of St. Stephen) is a large Roman Catholic church at the northern end of the Campo Santo Stefano in the sestiere of San Marco, Venice, Italy. History It was founded in the 13th century, rebuilt in the 14th century and altered again early in the 15th century, when the fine gothic doorway and ship's keel roof were added. The tall interior is also Gothic in style and has three apses. Santo Stefano is parish church of one of the parishes in the Vicariate of San Marco-Castello. San Samuele Di Venezia
San Samuele is a church in Venice, northern Italy. It is located in the eponymous ''campo'' near Palazzo Grassi and Palazzo Malipiero. The facade is set back on the campo, but faces and is visible from the Grand Canal. It is named after the Biblical Samuel, because in the interior are housed relics traditionally attributed to him. The church was built around 1000 by the families Boldù and Soranzo. In the early 12th centuries it was destroyed by two fires and then reconstructed. In 1685 it was again almost entirely rebuilt. The portico on the façade, now closed, is surmounted by a loggia added in 1952. The interior, over the high altar, houses a 14th-century crucifix attributed to Paolo Veneziano. San Samuele bears the distinction of being one of only a handful of Roman Catholic churches dedicated to an Old Testament figure. San Salvador Di Venezia
The Chiesa di San Salvatore (of the Holy Savior) is a church in Venice, northern Italy. Known in Venetian as San Salvador, is located on the Campo San Salvador, along the Merceria, the main shopping street of Venice. The church was first consecrated in 1177 by Pope Alexander III shortly after his reconciliation with Emperor Frederick Barbarossa at nearby San Marco. The present church, however, was begun in around 1508 by Giorgio Spavento and continued after his death the following year by Tullio Lombardo, Vincenzo Scamozzi and possibly Jacopo Sansovino. They built a large hall church, formed from three Greek crosses placed end to end. Each has a dome with a lantern to let light into the cavernous interior. The facade was added in 1663 by Giuseppe Sardi. Adjoining the church is the former monastery, now the offices of the telephone company, which still contain Sansovino's magnificent cloisters. San Maurizio, Venice
San Maurizio is a Neoclassical-style, deconsecrated church located in the campo San Maurizio in the sestiere of San Marco of the city of Venice, Italy. It now is a Museum focusing on the music of Baroque Venice. A church was present at the site before the first reconstruction in the 16th century. A further reconstruction took place in 1806 by the La Fenice's architect Giannantonio Selva. It once housed a studio of a young Antonio Canova. Near the church was built the scuola degli Albanesi. The present structure is mainly a design of the Neoclassic architect Giovanni Antonio Selva. The church now houses the Museo della Musica, museum of baroque instruments, composers, and music of Venice. It features period instruments, and documents, including exhibits on Antonio Vivaldi, but also documents on Amati, Giovanni Battista Guadagnini, and Francesco and Matteo Goffriller.

Santa Maria Zobenigo
The Chiesa di Santa Maria del Giglio is a church in Venice, Italy. The church, whose name translates into ''St. Mary of the Lily'' referring to the flower classically depicted as being presented by the Angel Gabriel during the Annunciation), is more commonly known as Santa Maria Zobenigo after the Jubanico family who founded it in the 9th century. The edifice is situated on the Campo Santa Maria Zobenigo, west of the Piazza San Marco. It was rebuilt by Giuseppe Sardi for Admiral Antonio Barbaro between 1678 and 1681 and has one of the finest Venetian Baroque facades in all of Venice. San Luca Di Venezia
The church of San Luca Evangelista is a church in the sestiere of San Marco in Venice, Italy. A parish church stood at the site since the 11th century, patronized by the patrician Dandolo and Pizzamano families. Restored over the centuries, it underwent major reconstruction in the early 1600s, and was reconsecrated in 1617. The facade is simple, but the interior has a rich decoration. The walls and the ceiling were frescoed by Sebastiano Santi. In the altar in the presbytery is an altarpiece depicting ''The Virgin appears to St. Luke as he writes the Gospel'' by Paolo Veronese. In the right lateral chapel is an altarpiece of ''Virgin and Saints'' by Palma il Giovane. San Fantin, Venice
San Fantin (short for San Fantino) is a church in the sestiere of San Marco in Venice, Italy. It stands in front of the Fenice Theater and adjacent to the Ateneo Veneto (the former Scuola grande di San Fantin). This parish church was first erected in the 10th century under the patronage of the patrician families from Barozzi, Aldicina, and Equilia. Reconstruction was undertaken by the Pisani family, who installed in the church a miraculous icon of the Virgin they had obtained from the East. The church of San Fantin by the 15th century came to be called the church of ''Santa Maria delle Grazie di San Fantino''. Ten thousand ducats were willed for the church's reconstruction by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Zeno who died in 1501.
