Church Of The Commenda, Faenza
The Church of the Commenda is a Romanesque-style, Roman Catholic church located on Corso Europa in the Piazza Fra Sabba da Castiglione of Faenza, region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. History The church was founded in the early 12th century, and part of the remaining apse, bell-tower, and portico date to the following two centuries. It was erected adjacent to the Hostel of the Holy Sepulchre (), used to house pilgrims traveling to and from the Holy Land. In the 13th century, the church was affiliated with the Knights of the Order of Malta. Girolamo da Treviso (1508 – September 10, 1544), also known as Girolamo di Tommaso da Treviso the Younger and Girolamo Trevigi, was an Italian Renaissance sculptor and painter in Henry VIII's court in England. Biography Born in Treviso, to a Tommaso. The identity of Girolamo da Treviso the Elder, remains unclear. He was likely not a pupil of Pier Maria Pennacchi, as supposed in the 19th century. Sabba Da Castiglione
Sabba da Castiglione, fra' Sabba da Castiglione or Saba da Castiglione (1480 – 16 March 1554) was an Italian Renaissance humanist, writer and member of the Knights Hospitaller. Life Born into a noble family in Milan, he studied law, philosophy and theology at the University of Pavia. After a short stay in Mantua, he decided to enter the Knights Hospitaller in 1505 aged only twenty-five. He later became their deputy procurator general. He was stationed on Rhodes until 1508, when he moved to Rome, where he cultivated a love of art and literature. Francesco Menzocchi
Francesco Menzocchi (1502–1574) was an Italian painter of the late-Renaissance and Mannerist period. He was born in Forlì, belonged to the Forlì painting school and was active mainly in Forlì and Pesaro. Menzocchi was also called ''il Vecchio di San Bernardo''. He apprenticed first with painter Marco Palmegiani, and later Girolamo Genga. He worked under the latter in the Villa Imperiale of Pesaro, where he would influence Raffaellino del Colle.
