Chuck Kornegay
Charles MacArthur Kornegay Jr. (born September 28, 1974) is a Spanish-American former professional basketball player. The 6' 9", 235-lb power forward gained notoriety at Villanova University, before going on to star for the Raleigh Cougars of the USBL, and ultimately overseas. Cougars fans called him the "Chuck-wagon", "Chuck Diesel" and "Korn-dawg". Basketball career As a basketball standout at Southern Wayne High School in Dudley, North Carolina, Kornegay was heavily recruited by American universities. He signed with nearby school, North Carolina State University. He played at NCSU for the Wolfpack during the 1993–1994 season, before transferring to Villanova University in suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He played for there for three seasons and led the Wildcats to Big East conference championships in 1995 and 1997. Greg Newton
Gregory Michael Newton (born September 7, 1974) is a Canadian former professional basketball player. He played four years of college basketball at Duke University and served as team captain during his 1996–97 Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team, senior year. College career He was a center for the Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team from 1994 to 1997, playing for coach Mike Krzyzewski. Newton was team captain in his senior season. Lorenzo Charles
Lorenzo Emile Charles (November 25, 1963 – June 27, 2011) was an American college and professional basketball player. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Charles played basketball for North Carolina State University and scored the game-winning points in the championship game of the 1983 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. He played briefly in the National Basketball Association and for several professional teams in Europe. Charles died in a bus accident on June 27, 2011, at age 47. Yakima Sun Kings
The Yakima SunKings are a basketball team located in Yakima, Washington, covering the central Washington sports market of Yakima, Tri-Cities, and Ellensburg and plays at the Yakima SunDome. The team competed in the Continental Basketball Association from 1990 to 2008. In June 2005, the team was purchased by the Yakama Indian Nation and was renamed the Yakama Sun Kings (from Yakima to Yakama) to honor the Nation. The United States Basketball League (USBL) was a professional men's spring basketball league. The league was formed in 1985 and ceased operations in 2008. The USBL started in 1985 as one of the first basketball leagues to play a late-spring to early-summer schedule. The league quickly became known as a development league for players, with many players moving up to the National Basketball Association, NBA and many more playing in Europe after stints here. In 1996, the league made a stock offering, a rarity among sports leagues. However, in later years, the league declined as rival leagues appeared and USBL had a tougher time replacing teams that folded.
