Chrysalis (2007 Film)
''Chrysalis'' is a French science fiction film directed and co-written by Julien Leclercq and starring Albert Dupontel. The film was commercially released in France on 31 October 2007. Synopsis In the near future Paris, lieutenant David Hoffman from the European Police is chasing down Bulgarian human trafficker Dimitri Nicolov, along with his police partner and wife, Sarah. During the ensuing shoot-out, Sarah is killed by Nicolov and David is injured. Some time later, David is brought back to active service and given a new partner, Marie, the niece of a high-ranking Intelligence officer. They investigate the body of an illegal immigrant, Tatiana, found with strange marks under her eye from what looks like an eyelid retractor, and her brain cooked by electrical shocks. Julien Leclercq (director)
Julien Leclercq (born 7 August 1979) is a French film director, screenwriter and producer. Julien Leclercq began his career in 2004 with the production of the short film ''Transit'', in which he explored a retro-future world populated by half-flesh, half-metal beings. The short film got the attention of the producer Franck Chorot and Gaumont, who promptly offered Leclercq a budget of 8.7 million euros to produce his first feature film ''Chrysalis'', the story of a police lieutenant (played by Albert Dupontel) who tries to find his wife's killer in a Paris of 2025. Film noir (; ) is a cinematic term used primarily to describe stylish Hollywood crime dramas, particularly those that emphasize cynical attitudes and motivations. Christian Volckman (b. 1971) is a French film director, author, and painter. He is a graduate of Ecole Supérieure d'Arts Graphiques in Paris. Career He is mainly known for his motion capture animation feature film ''Renaissance'', a 2006 dystopian film noir. Enki Bilal (born Enes Bilal; born 7 October 1951) is a French comic book creator, comics artist and film director. Biography Early life Bilal was born in Belgrade, PR Serbia, Yugoslavia, to a Czech mother, Ana, who came to Belgrade as child from Karlovy Vary, and a Bosnian Muslim father, Muhamed Hamo Bilal, from Ljubuški, who had been Josip Broz Tito's tailor.
