Christina Sandberg
Christina Sandberg (born 11 January 1948) is a former professional tennis player from Sweden. She reached the quarterfinals of the 1970 Australian Open in both the singles and doubles. She played for Sweden in the Federation Cup in 25 matches, and she notably defeated Virginia Wade in the first round of the 1968 Wimbledon Championships - Women's Singles. Federation Cup Sandberg first played for Sweden in the Federation Cup on 10 May 1966 in Turin against Italy, beating Jacqueline Morales 7–9, 6–3, 6–2. She played her last Federation Cup match in May 1974 against Poland in Naples, losing to Barbara Kral 6–1, 6–1. Borås
Borås ( , , ) is a city (officially, a locality) and the seat of Borås Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It had 66,273 inhabitants in 2010. The Billie Jean King Cup (or the BJK Cup) is the premier international team competition in women's tennis, launched as the Federation Cup in 1963 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The name was changed to the Fed Cup in 1995, and changed again in September 2020 in honor of former World No. 1 Billie Jean King. Virginia Wade
Sarah Virginia Wade (born 10 July 1945) is a British former professional tennis player. She won three Major tennis singles championships and four major doubles championships, and is the only British woman in history to have won titles at all four majors. She was ranked as high as No. 2 in the world in singles, and No. 1 in the world in doubles. Wade was the most recent British tennis player to win a major singles tournament until Andy Murray won the 2012 US Open, and was the most recent British woman to have won a major singles title until Emma Raducanu won the 2021 US Open. Italy Fed Cup Team
The Italy women's national tennis team represents Italy in international women's tennis and is directed by the Federazione Italiana Tennis. The team played in the first ever tournament in 1963, and is one of four teams that has taken part in every single edition since. The Italian national team was initially unsuccessful in world tennis, only winning twenty ties in the first two decades of competition never reaching past the quarterfinals since 1999, but in recent times they have become of the most successful teams in the world.
