Christian Mejdahl
Christian Mejdahl (born 31 December 1939 at Tvøroyri in the Faroe Islands) is a Danish politician representing the liberal party, Venstre. He was a Member of Parliament—the Folketing—from 9 September 1987 to 13 November 2007, and served as Speaker of the Folketing from 18 March 2003. He lives in Løgstør in Himmerland Himmerland is a peninsula in northeastern Jutland, Denmark. Ivar Hansen
Ivar Hansen (1 November 1938 – 11 March 2003) was a Danish politician from the Liberal party '' Venstre''. He was elected to the Folketing in 1973. In 1978-1979, he was Minister of Public Works in the Anker Jørgensen cabinet. In 1998, he became speaker of the Folketing defeating his Social Democrat rival, Birte Weiss, after a drawing of lots. He served until his sudden death in the Copenhagen apartment of his mistress Mariann Fischer Boel, who was at the time Minister for Foods and Agriculture. Tvøroyri
Tvøroyri is a village on the north side of the Trongisvágsfjørður on the east coast of Suðuroy island in the Faroe Islands. Together with Froðba, Trongisvágur, Líðin and Øravík it forms Tvøroyri Municipality. The village is considered to have been founded in 1836, when the Royal Danish Monopoly Trade Store was founded on a small tongue of land, called Tvøroyri. In a short span of years, Tvøroyri grew into a large village, mainly after 1856 when the monopoly state of the store was abolished. Around the turn of the 20th century, Tvøroyri was one of the largest towns on the Faroe Islands and had one of the main fishing industries. Folketing
The Folketing ( da, Folketinget, ; ), also known as the Parliament of Denmark or the Danish Parliament in English, is the unicameral national legislature (parliament) of the Kingdom of Denmark—Denmark proper together with the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Established in 1849, until 1953 the Folketing was the lower house of a bicameral parliament, called the Rigsdag; the upper house was Landstinget.
