Christian Life Movement
The Christian Life Movement (CLM; es, Movimiento de Vida Cristiana, ''MVC'') is a lay ecclesial movement, founded in 1985, in Peru. At that time, a number of initiatives from members of the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae had already begun. Luis Fernando Figari, the Founder of the Sodalitium, conceived the idea of gathering those people and initiatives together in an ecclesiastic movement. The Christian Life Movement forms part of the Sodalit Family, which shares a common spirituality, called the Sodalit spirituality. "The spirituality of CLM, which offers its members a personal and community-based process of ongoing formation, is characterised by devotion to the Immaculate Conception, an intense participation in liturgical life, meditation on the Word of God as the light to direct their lives and as the key to a critical reading of human projects." Roman Catholic Lay Ecclesial Movement
A Catholic lay association, also referred to as Catholic Congress, is an association of lay Catholics aiming to discuss certain political or social issues from a Catholic perspective. The Pontifical Council for the Laity is the body responsible for approving those Catholic associations that exist at an international level. The structure of some Religious Orders allow for Lay branches to be associated with them. These are often referred to as Third Orders. Some of the best known Catholic Lay Associations are Knights of Columbus, Knights of Columba, Catenians, Knights of Malta, the Piusverein in Germany and Switzerland, Azione Cattolica in Italy and the UK-based Catholic Truth Society. Sodalitium Christianae Vitae
Sodalitium Christianae Vitae (SCV), or Sodalitium of Christian Life is a Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical Right, according to the Code of Canon Law which governs the Latin Rite branch of the Catholic Church. It was founded in Lima, Peru, by Luis Fernando Figari on 8 December 1971. It acquired its present canonical form when Pope John Paul II gave his Pontifical approval on 8 July 1997. The Sodalitium was the first male religious society in Peru to receive papal approval. By 1997 there were Sodalit communities in several countries. The Sodalitium is composed of consecrated laymen and priests, called "Sodalits," who live in community as brothers and make commitments—not religious vows as such—of celibacy and obedience. Luis Fernando Figari
Luis Fernando Figari Rodrigo (born 8 July 1947) is a Peruvian Catholic layman, the founder and former superior general of Sodalitium Christianae Vitae (SCV). He also founded the Christian Life Movement and several other religious associations. He has been the object of allegations of physical, psychological and sexual abuse of young men, some of whom were minors. On 30 January 2017, following an investigation of these claims, the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life ordered that Figari be "prohibited from contacting, in any way, persons belonging to the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae, and no way have any direct personal contact with them." Sodalit Family
The Sodalit Family is the group of people, institutions and works that are associated with the spirituality that has arisen from foundation of the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae (SCV). In the history of the Catholic Church there have been many spiritual families which have arisen, each with a specific style and charism that have responded to the specific needs of their time. The Sodalit Spirituality is a new ecclesial initiative coming from the Second Vatican Council. All those who participate in the Sodalit Family do so personally, and therefore any member of the Church may do so, regardless of age. Its members are those who seek to live the Sodalit spirituality. Favela
Favela () is an umbrella name for several types of working-class neighborhoods in Brazil. The term was first used in the Providência neighborhood in the center of Rio de Janeiro in the late 19th century, which was built by soldiers who had lived under the favela trees in Bahia and had nowhere to live following the Canudos War. Some of the first settlements were called ''bairros africanos'' (African neighborhoods). Over the years, many former enslaved Africans moved in. Even before the first favela came into being, poor citizens were pushed away from the city and forced to live in the far suburbs. Most modern favelas appeared in the 1970s due to rural exodus, when many people left rural areas of Brazil and moved to cities. Unable to find places to live, many people found themselves in favelas. CreceChile
CreceChile was founded in 2005 by a group of young Catholic university students that sought to promote the integral growth of the human person through educational projects. Later, this initiative became a non-profit organization that seeks to support disadvantaged families through education. CreceChile is also part of the international organization Crece which is also present in Argentina, Colombia and Angola. History In 2005, a group of 5 friends, and members of the Christian Life Movement, working in a community in Maipú, Chile realized that many adults had not finished high school. This experience led to the possibility of educating and preparing a small group of adults to take the US equivalent GED. The first class of consisted of 26 adults of which 90% passed the exam. Luis Fernando Intriago Páez
Luis Fernando Intriago Páez (born 1956) is a secularized priest from Guayaquil. He was parish priest of the Church of Our Lady of Czestochowa () from 1996 to 2013. Intriago was dismissed from his priestly functions by the Archdiocese of Guayaquil after there were complaints that Intriago sexually abused and tortured minors. Intriago told his victims that to help themselves and their families, they needed to suffer through a secret sacrifice, which he named the dynamic of sin ().
