Christian B. Apenes
Christian Bernt Apenes (19 February 1902 – 20 October 1976) was a Norwegian judge and politician. Personal life He was born in Fredriksstad. He was the son of a ship-broker – ''Georg Apenes'' (1869–1902) and his wife ''Kitty, née Mørch'' (1872–1958). His brother Ola was an engineer, archaeologist and volunteer soldier during the Second World War. In 1939, he married an engineer's daughter ''Inger-Johanne Framholdt Johansen'' (born 1917). Their son Georg Apenes (1940–2016) became an MP and director of the Norwegian Data Inspectorate. ''Inger-Johanne Apenes'' was murdered in 1978, after Christian's death. The case was unsolved until 2007, when someone confessed to the murder. By that time, however, the case was juridically obsolete. Fredrikstad
Fredrikstad (; previously ''Frederiksstad''; literally "Fredrik's Town") is a city and municipality in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Fredrikstad. The city of Fredrikstad was founded in 1567 by King Frederick II, and established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see '' formannskapsdistrikt''). The rural municipality of Glemmen was merged with Fredrikstad on 1 January 1964. The rural municipalities of Borge, Onsøy, Kråkerøy, and Rolvsøy were merged with Fredrikstad on 1 January 1994. The city straddles the river Glomma where it meets the Skagerrak, about from the Sweden border. Along with neighboring Sarpsborg, Fredrikstad forms the fifth largest city in Norway: Fredrikstad/Sarpsborg. King's Medal Of Merit
The King's Medal of Merit (Norwegian: ''Kongens fortjenstmedalje'') is a Norwegian award. It was instituted in 1908 to reward meritorious achievements in the fields of art, science, business, and public service. It is divided in two classes: gold and silver. The medal in gold is rewarded for extraordinary achievements of importance to the nation and society. The medal in silver may be awarded for lesser achievements. The medal is suspended from a ribbon in the colours of the Royal Standard of Norway. The medal in gold is ranked eighth in the ranking of Norwegian orders and medals. The Borgarsyssel Museum is a museum located at Sarpsborg in Viken county, Norway. The museum was named after ''Borgarsysla'', the Old Norse name of Østfold county. It was founded in 1921 and documents Østfold's cultural history from the Middle Ages. The open-air collection includes about twenty historic buildings.
