Chris Uhlmann
Christopher Gerald Uhlmann (born 24 June 1960) is a former security guard, Australian journalist and television presenter. Career Uhlmann was formerly a seminarian, a security guard, and a journalist with ''The Canberra Times'' before joining the Australian Broadcasting Corporation as a radio producer in 1998. From 1999 to 2004, Uhlmann co-hosted '' Local Radio Breakfast'' on ABC Radio Canberra with David Kilby. In 2005, he was Jon Faine's producer for the ''Mornings'' show on ABC Radio Melbourne, and in 2006 was made chief political correspondent for ABC Radio current affairs. In 2008, Uhlmann switched to television, and was political editor for '' The 7.30 Report'', ABC News, and ABC News channel. In December 2010, he was appointed co-host of the ABC Television current affairs program, '' 7.30''. Leadership spills of the federal parliamentary leadership of the Liberal Party of Australia were held on 21 and 24 August 2018 and were called by the incumbent leader of the party, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. It has been nicknamed "spill week" in the media. Turnbull called the first spill in a regularly scheduled party room meeting of the Liberal Party on 21 August, amid media reports that Minister for Home Affairs Peter Dutton was considering a challenge. Dutton submitted himself as a candidate for the leadership, but was defeated by Turnbull, who won the ballot 48 votes to 35. Dutton then immediately resigned from the ministry. Dutton requested a second spill motion two days later. Laurie Oakes
Laurie Oakes (born 14 August 1943 in Newcastle, New South Wales) is an Australian former journalist and author. He worked in the Canberra Press Gallery from 1969 to 2017, covering the Parliament of Australia and federal elections for print, radio, and television. Early career Oakes was born in Newcastle, New South Wales, the son of Wes and Hazel Oakes. His father worked for BHP as an accountant. When Oakes was six years old, his father was transferred to Cockatoo Island, a small island off the coast of Derby, Western Australia, where there was an iron ore mine. He began his schooling at a one-teacher school with only 20–30 children. Oakes later moved back to New South Wales and attended Lithgow High School. The site was started by television critic David Knox in 2007 after listeners of his radio programs asked him for information they had missed. Tony Eastley is an Australian newspaper journalist and radio and television newsreader and host.
