Chris Ryan (hurler)
Christopher "Christy" Ryan (25 December 1899 – 22 February 1978) was an Irish hurler who played as a right wing-back for the Limerick senior team. Keane made his first appearance for the team in a tournament game in late 1918 and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1930 championship. During that time he won one All-Ireland medal and one Munster medal. At club level Ryan enjoyed a lengthy career with Pallasgreen. Ryan hailed from a family with a close association with Gaelic games. His uncles, Tom, John and James Barry won All-Ireland medals with London in 1901. Pallasgreen GAA
Pallasgreen GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Pallasgreen/Templebraden parish in east County Limerick, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club was founded in 1887 and is a dual club fielding teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. Location The club is situated in the parish of Pallasgreen/Templebraden and is a member of the East Board of Limerick GAA. The club is centred on the villages of Pallasgreen, Old Pallas, Nicker and Barna. The parish is roughly 22 km southeast of Limerick City and just 8 km from the border with County Tipperary. Neighbouring clubs are Kilteely/Dromkeen, Caherline GAA, Caherline, Caherconlish, Cappamore GAA, Cappamore, Doon GAA, Doon, Oola and Knockane. Tom Barry (London Hurler)
Thomas J. Barry (20 August 1879 - 23 May 1969) was an Irish sportsman and revolutionary figure. He was a leading hurler and Gaelic footballer in the early 20th century and was the last-surviving member of the London-Irish team that won the All-Ireland Championship in 1901. Biography Raised near Glanworth, County Cork, Barry was one of fifteen children born to Timothy Barry, a farmer, and his wife Hannah. He was educated by the Christian Brothers in Fermoy before emigrating to London in 1895 where he was an apprentice in the furniture trade. Barry joined a number of Irish nationalist groups in London, including the Irish Republican Brotherhood. Already a promising hurler and Gaelic footballer before his emigration, he joined the Hibernians club and was later selected for the London-Irish teams as a dual player. Pallasgreen Hurlers
Pallasgreen or Pallasgrean () is a village in East County Limerick, situated on the Limerick–Tipperary N24 road. The name means "the Stockade of Grian," referring to an ancient Irish Goddess of Love, who is associated with the nearby hill of Nicker. Approximately 2 km south of Pallasgreen is the related village, Old Pallas, and roughly three miles south of Pallasgreen is Sarsfield's Rock, a large rocky outcrop near the church of Templebraden. This rocky outcrop looks down on the site where Patrick Sarsfield destroyed the Williamite artillery during the Jacobite-Williamite War. The rock itself has views of the surrounding hills and fields. The London County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Londain) or London GAA is one of the county boards outside Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in London. The county board is also responsible for the London county teams and schools. James Barry (hurler)
James Barry (born 29 June 1990) is an Irish hurling, hurler who plays for Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship, Tipperary Senior Championship club Upperchurch–Drombane GAA, Upperchurch–Drombane. He played for the Tipperary senior hurling team for six seasons, during which time he usually lined out in defence as a centre-back and later as a full-back. Barry began his hurling career at club level with Upperchurch-Drombane. He broke onto the club's top adult team as a 15-year-old in 2005 and has been an ever-present defender since then. As a member of the UCC GAA, University College Cork team, Barry won back-to-back Fitzgibbon Cup titles. Barry lined out for Tipperary in four different grades of hurling over a 12-year period. Gaelic games ( ga, Cluichí Gaelacha) are a set of sports played worldwide, though they are particularly popular in Ireland, where they originated. The Munster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship, is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition organised by the Munster GAA, Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA).
