Chris Dolman
Christiaan "Chris" Dolman (born February 17, 1945) is a Dutch retired judoka, sambo player and wrestler. He won a silver medal at the European championship in judo and a gold at the world championship in sambo, counting as the first non-Russian sambo world champion,J. Dick Schilder, ''From Russia with Love: Dutchman Steals Sambo Crown'', Black Belt Magazine, February 1970 and has over 40 national and 10 international championships. He is known for his career in Fighting Network Rings and for his role training several Dutch Mixed Martial Artists and Kickboxers, among them Bas Rutten, Alistair and Valentijn Overeem, Gilbert Yvel and Gegard Mousasi. Career Dolman started training judo under Jon Bluming at the Tung-Yen dojo while in college. He became a professional competitor shortly after. Willie Peeters
Willie Peeters (born October 26, 1965) is a Dutch mixed martial artist. He competed in the Heavyweight division. Biography Peeters started his career in amateur wrestling at the age of ten, training with famed champion Freddy Winters and winning several junior competitions across Europe. At sixteen, he moved to the Oyama Gym in Amsterdam, where he trained judo under Chris Dolman and Willem Ruska, as well as kickboxing under Jan Lomulder, and finally Kyokushin karate, winning a heavyweight championship. In 1991, after talking about his interest in mixed martial arts, Dolman invited him to his team in Fighting Network RINGS in order to compete in both MMA and professional wrestling in Japan. The European Sambo Championships is the main sambo championships in Europe, organized by European Sambo Federation. The first championship was held in 1972 in Riga. The World Sambo Championships are the main championships in Sambo and Combat Sambo, organized by the Fédération Internationale de Sambo (FIAS). History The first World Sambo Cup took place in 1977 in Oviedo, Spain. Two years later, the first Youth World Championships were held in Madrid, Spain. World Games 1985
The 1985 World Games, commonly known as London 1985, were the second edition of the World Games, an international multi-sport event held in London, England. Three main venues were used, the main one being the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. The opening ceremony was held at the Wembley Conference Centre. The master of ceremonies was television commentator Ron Pickering. Competitors were addressed by World Games Association President Dr Un Yong Kim, who told competitors, "the World Games is an innovation that deserves a warm welcome." Games Patron Ryoichi Sasakawa underwrote the financial shortfall to enable the Games to take place.
