Gribbio
Gribbio is an Italian-speaking village in Ticino, Switzerland, in the district of Chironico. It is situated in the Lepontine Alps, more specifically in Alta Leventina between Chironico and Dalpe at an altitude of 1,300 metres. The village consists of one church with an ambulatory priest, approximately 30 houses and a cafe/restaurant (Ul Ciurlin - The Little Coffee) with a small menu of typical dishes from the area. As the village is inaccessible in winter there are no permanent residents, but in summer there is a population of 80-100 people. Originally farmers took their cows higher up into the mountains to graze over the summer, using Gribbio as a 'base camp' before returning down the valley for the winter. However, in recent years the village has become more popular as a summer holiday home. Faido
Faido is the capital of the district of Leventina in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino in southern Switzerland. On 29 January 2006, Faido grew by incorporating the villages of Chiggiogna, Rossura, and Calonico. Dalpe
Dalpe is a municipality in the district of Leventina in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. History In Dalpe a small cemetery from a 5th Century BC Golasecca culture settlement was discovered. Dalpe is first mentioned in 1217 as ''Albe''. In the 13th Century the Gotthard route went through Faido to Cornon and Prato. Dalpe and Cornon formed a '' Degagna'' within the '' Vicinanza'' of Prato. The church is first mentioned in 1338, the church in Cornon is from the late 15th Century. In 1640, Dalpe broke away from the parish of Prato and became an independent parish. The parish church of SS Bernardo e Carlo is from 1661. In 1866, the ''Vicinanza'' of Dalpe separated from Prato and formed a separate civil parish. Frasco
Frasco is a former municipality in the district of Locarno in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. On 17 October 2020 the former municipalities of Vogorno, Sonogno, Corippo, Brione (Verzasca) and Frasco merged to form the new municipality of Verzasca. History Frasco is first mentioned in 1235 as ''Felasco''. During the Middle Ages, Frasco was part of the greater '' Vicinanza'' of Verzasca. In 1395, it and Sonogno formed a single political municipality, which existed until 1843. The village church of St. Bernhard was probably built in the 14th Century. Giornico is a municipality in the district of Leventina in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. History Giornico is first mentioned around 935-94 as ''de Iudicibus Giornicensis''. Sonogno is a former municipality in the district of Locarno in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. It is located in Valle Verzasca. On 17 October 2020 the former municipalities of Vogorno, Sonogno, Corippo, Brione (Verzasca) and Frasco merged to form the new municipality of Verzasca.
