Ilha Verde
Ilha Verde, also known by its Cantonese name Cing-zau and Mandarin name Qingzhou, is an area in the northwest of Macau Peninsula, Macau that forms part of the Our Lady Fatima Parish. It is a former island—known in English as Verde or Green Island—to the west of the Macau Isthmus. It was settled by Jesuits. Ilha Verde was connected to the Macau Peninsula in 1895 when a causeway (now Avenida do Conselheiro Borja) was built. Since then reclamation projects around the island took place and now it is annexed to be a part of Macau Peninsula. Colina da Ilha Verde is a hill comprising much of Ilha Verde. The hill is tall, the sixth tallest in Macau. The government built barracks on the hill in 1865 and much of the island was of military area for decades, due to it being close to the Chinese border. Green Island, Hong Kong
Green Island is an island off the northwest coast of Kennedy Town, Hong Kong Island, separated by the Sulphur Channel. A smaller island nearby to the east, uninhabited, is called Little Green Island (). Administratively, the two islands are part of Central and Western District. Buildings Green Island is largely uninhabited and at the east coast is Green Island Reception Centre and Green Island Police Station. On the top of the hill is an office of the Marine Department and a lighthouse southwest guides the ships in Sulphur Channel. Tsam Chuk Wan
Tsam Chuk Wan () is a bay of the Sai Kung Peninsula in Hong Kong. By extension, it is also the name of the area around the bay. Tsam Chuk Wan Village () is one of the villages located within this area. History A Catholic missionary station was established at Tsam Chuk Wan between 1867 and 1869. (A previous version of this paper was presented at a Seminar 'Hong Kong: its people, culture and traditions, the Centre of Asian Studies, University of Hong Kong. 15-16 April 1983) In 1911, Pak Tam Chung consisted of six villages with fewer than 405 inhabitants in total: Wong Yi Chau (village), Wong Yi Chau (), Pak Tam (), Sheung Yiu (), Tsak Yue Wu (), Wong Keng Tei () and Tsam Chuk Wan. Pillar Island
Pillar Island or Tsing Chau was an island in the Kwai Chung area of Hong Kong, sitting at the mouth of Gin Drinkers Bay, by the side of the Rambler Channel, opposite Tsing Yi, Tsing Yi Island. In the 1960s, the bay was Land reclamation in Hong Kong, reclaimed and Tsing Chau became a land extension of Kwai Chung, the south of which is Kwai Tsing Container Terminals. In the early 1970s, a cross-channel bridge, Tsing Yi South Bridge, Tsing Yi Bridge, was built landing on Kwai Chung where the island once was. The Kwai Chung Incineration Plant once stood on what was originally the north side of the island. It was closed and partly demolished in the early 1990s. Sharp Island
Sharp Island or Kiu Tsui Chau () is the largest island in the Kiu Tsui Country Park located at Port Shelter of Sai Kung, Hong Kong. The area is most known for fishing, swimming as well as diving. Sharp Island is under the administration of Sai Kung District. Geography The island has a maximum elevation of 136m and an area of 1 km². The two beaches, Half Moon Bay Beach (, also known as Hap Mun Bay), and Kiu Tsui Beach () are located on the island. Both are managed by the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department. When the predicted tides at Ko Lau Wan is lower than or equal to +1.40 meters, visitors are able to visit Kiu Tau (), an inshore islet, on foot.
