Chinese Pharmaceutical Association
The Chinese Pharmaceutical Association is the regulatory and professional body for pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists in China. It is headquartered in Beijing, and there are also offices nationwide. Founded in 1907, as a national professional pharmaceutical organization, it is one of the earliest and largest academic organizations in China. It is a member of Chinese Association for Science and Technology (CAST), International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), and Asian Federation for Medicinal Chemistry (AFMC). Members The CPA has around 100,000 individual members, including about 3000 seniors, and 33 group members all over China. It represents pharmacists from hospitals and institutions, and pharmaceutical research and industrial professionals as well as personnel from administration and education, with 13 committees of different specialty and 7 working committees affiliated, 14 academic periodicals and publications sponsored. Pharmacist
A pharmacist, also known as a chemist (Commonwealth English) or a druggist (North American and, archaically, Commonwealth English), is a healthcare professional who prepares, controls and distributes medicines and provides advice and instructions on the correct and safe use of medicines to achieve maximum benefit, minimal side effects and to avoid drug interactions. They also serve as primary care providers in the community. Pharmacists undergo university or graduate-level education to understand the biochemical mechanisms and actions of drugs, drug uses, therapeutic roles, side effects, potential drug interactions, and monitoring parameters. A hospital pharmacy is a department within a hospital that prepares, compounds, stocks and dispenses inpatient medications. Hospital pharmacies usually stock a larger range of medications, including more specialized and investigational medications (medicines that are being studied, but have not yet been approved), than would be feasible in the community setting.
