''Children of the Great Extinction'' is the sixth studio album by the heavy metal band Becoming the Archetype. The album was released on August 26, 2022, through Solid State. It is the band's first album in ten years since their hiatus, and also features the return of Jason Wisdom and Brent "Duck" Duckett to the band with Seth Hecox, the first album to have this lineup since ''Celestial Completion''.The album was produced by Nate Washburn (My Epic), and the album artwork was designed once again by Dan Seagrave, who had created the artworks for three of their albums. Discussing the new album with New Release Today, Wisdom said, "We talked about it a few years ago, right before COVID-19 happened. We talked about writing new music and then we got shut down for about a year and a half. Then, we met with our producer, Nate Washburn, and wrote some great new songs. Becoming the Archetype is an American Christian metal band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1999. They have released five albums on Solid State Records. ''Dichotomy'', which was released in November 2008, sold around 2,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen Soundscan. The CD debuted at No. 18 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the top 100 of the ''Billboard'' 200. Aletheian
Aletheian are a Christian progressive/melodic death metal band. They formed in Lebanon, Pennsylvania in 1997 under the name Crutch, and then changed their name to "Aletheian" prior to the 2003 album ''Apolutrosis''. Guitarist Alex Kenis joined Becoming the Archetype in 2007. In the early 2007, Aletheian signed to IronClad Recordings, an imprint of Metal Blade Records. Demon Hunter is an American Christian metal band from Seattle, Washington, started in 2000 by brothers Don Clark and Ryan Clark. Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing.
