Frank Borzage (; April 23, 1894 – June 19, 1962) was an Academy Award-winning American film director and actor, known for directing '' 7th Heaven'' (1927), '' Street Angel'' (1928), '' Bad Girl'' (1931), '' A Farewell to Arms'' (1932), ''Man's Castle'' (1933), '' History Is Made at Night'' (1937), ''The Mortal Storm'' (1940) and ''Moonrise'' (1948). Best remembered in the 1919 film '' The Miracle Man'', he was the little boy on crutches healed by the phony faith healer just after Lon Chaney. He is the older brother of child actor Davey Lee. He was born in Gunnison, Colorado, United States. Death On July 29, 1970, Lee was shot in the head four times while he was asleep in his studio apartment in Los Angeles, California, 5 months before his 59th birthday. Mary Carr
Mary Carr (née Kenevan; March 14, 1874 – June 24, 1973), was an American film actress and was married to the actor William Carr. She appeared in more than 140 films between 1915 and 1956. She was given some of filmdoms plum mother roles in silent pictures, especially Fox's 1920 ''Over the Hill to the Poorhouse'' which was a great success. She was interred in Calvary Cemetery. Carr bore a strong resemblance to Lucy Beaumont, another famous character actress of the time who specialized in mother roles. As older actresses such as Mary Maurice and Anna Townsend passed on, Carr, still in her forties, seem to inherit all the matriarchal roles in silent films. Mary Carr appeared on the June 9, 1954 episode of the radio quiz program "You Bet Your Life", hosted by comedian Groucho Marx. The Carrs' oldest son, William, died at two years of age. George Nichols (actor)
George Nichols, sometimes credited in films as George O. Nicholls (October 28, 1864 – September 20, 1927), was an American actor and film director. He is perhaps best remembered for his work at Mack Sennett's Keystone Studios. Nichols was born in Rockford, Illinois. He made 221 known film appearances from 1908 up to his death in 1927. He also directed 103 films between 1911 and 1916. Along with Henry "Pathe" Lehrman, Nichols became an arch-enemy of Charlie Chaplin very early on in Chaplin's film career, as Chaplin was dissatisfied with Nichols' way of directing and comic ideas while both worked at Keystone in 1914. In his autobiography, Chaplin recalled a dispute between himself and Nichols during the shooting of a film in which Chaplin appeared.
