Yaşar Güler (born September 18, 1954) is a Turkish general who currently serves as the 30th Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, serving in the position since he succeeded Hulusi Akar in July 2018. Career He enlisted in the land forces in 1974, which was effectively the start of his military career. He spent two years prior to his enlistment studying at the Turkish Military Academy. Early life and career Sunay was born in 1899 in Trabzon, in the Ottoman Empire.
