Chicoutimi-Saguenay
Chicoutimi-Saguenay (or Chicoutimi et Saguenay) was a former provincial electoral district in the province of Quebec, Canada. It was created for the 1867 Quebec general election, 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada). Its final election was in 1908 Quebec general election, 1908. It disappeared in the 1912 Quebec general election, 1912 election and its successor electoral districts were Charlevoix-Saguenay, Chicoutimi (provincial electoral district), Chicoutimi, and Lac-Saint-Jean (provincial electoral district), Lac-Saint-Jean. William Evan Price
William Evan Price (November 17, 1827 – June 12, 1880) was a businessman and political figure in Quebec, Canada. He was a Conservative Member of Parliament representing Chicoutimi-Saguenay from 1872 to 1874. Biography He was born at the Wolfesfield (or ''Wolfe's Field'') Estate (''domaine Wolfesfield'') in Sillery, in 1827, the son of William Price, a timber baron in the Saguenay region. He joined his father's business, William Price and Company, in the Chicoutimi area. In 1867, with his brothers David Edward and Evans John, he started Price Brothers and Company, which took over the assets of his father's company. In 1872, he defeated Pierre-Alexis Tremblay for a seat in the House of Commons. Although Protestant, he supported the development of Catholic schools in the region. In 1875, he was elected to the Quebec National Assembly in the same riding. He was reelected in 1878 but resigned from his seat in February 1880 because of health problems. He died at the family ... Honoré Petit
Honor̩ Petit (January 26, 1847 РDecember 1, 1922) was a farmer, lumberman and political figure in Quebec. He represented Chicoutimi-Saguenay from 1892 to 1912 as a Conservative and Chicoutimi from 1912 to 1919 as a Liberal in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec. He was born in Cap-Sant̩, Canada East, the son of Jean-Baptiste Petit and Marguerite Dor̩, and was educated at Cap-Sant̩, Neuville and L̩vis. He worked for the Price lumber company for 26 years. Petit was mayor of Sainte-Anne-de-Chicoutimi and warden for Chicoutimi County. He was defeated by On̩sime C̫t̩ when he ran for a seat in the Quebec assembly in 1890. Chicoutimi (provincial Electoral District)
Chicoutimi is a provincial electoral district in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. The district is located within the city of Saguenay and consists of part of the borough of Chicoutimi; it corresponds exactly to the territory of the former city of Chicoutimi prior to its February 18, 2002, amalgamation into the newly formed city of Saguenay. It was created for the 1912 election from a part of Chicoutimi-Saguenay electoral district. The riding has had the same boundaries since the 1988 redistribution. Pierre-Alexis Tremblay
Pierre-Alexis "Pitre" Tremblay (December 27, 1827 – January 4, 1879) was a surveyor and Quebec political figure. He was a Liberal Member of Parliament from 1867 to 1875 and 1878 to 1879. He was born in La Malbaie, Lower Canada, in 1827 and studied at the Petit Séminaire of Quebec. Near the end of 1853, he began carrying out surveys in the Saguenay region. As a journalist, he contributed to a number of newspapers of the time: ''Le Canadien'', ''La Nation'', ''Le National'', ''L’Événement'' and ''L’Éclaireur''. He was elected to Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada for Chicoutimi—Saguenay in an 1865 by-election. In 1867, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec in Chicoutimi-Saguenay; in the same year he was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the same riding; such dual mandates were legal at the time. Michel Guillaume Baby
Michel-Guillaume Baby (September 15, 1834 РMarch 16, 1911) was a businessman and political figure in Quebec. He represented Rimouski from 1857 to 1861 and T̩miscouata from 1861 to 1863 in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and Chicoutimi et Saguenay from 1874 to 1875 in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec as a Conservative. His name also appears as Michel William Baby. He was born in Saint-Philippe-de-La Prairie, Lower Canada, the son of Charles Fran̤ois Xavier Baby and Clothilde Pinsonaut. Baby was a shareholder in the Grand Trunk Railway, as well as president of the Quebec and Lake St. John Railway, originally incorporated as the Quebec and Gosford Railway. Onésime Côté
Onésime Côté (August 13, 1840 – October 23, 1911) was a general merchant and political figure in Quebec who represented Chicoutimi-Saguenay in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1890 to 1892 as a member of the Parti National. He was born in Baie-Saint-Paul, Lower Canada, the son of Désiré Côté and Édith Perron, and established himself in business at Bagotville. In 1867, he married Marie-Philomène-Angèle Maltais. Côté was mayor of the northwest division of Bagot township in 1871 and 1872. Séverin Dumais
Séverin Dumais (February 10, 1840 – April 28, 1907) was a notary and political figure in Quebec. He represented Chicoutimi-Saguenay in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1888 to 1890 as a Parti National member. He was born in Saint-Georges-de-Cacouna, Lower Canada, the son of Paschal Dumais and Éléonore Couillard, and was educated at Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière. Dumais articled with his father and then F.S. McKey, qualified to practise as a notary in 1864 and set up practice in Hébertville. He married Honorine Gagné in 1887. Dumais was mayor of Hébertville from 1881 to 1890. In 1899, he was named a crown lands agent. He also served as a lieutenant in the militia. Dumais ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the Quebec assembly in 1886, losing to Élie Saint-Hilaire. Élie Saint-Hilaire (January 29, 1839 – May 12, 1888) was an educator, farmer and political figure in Quebec. Joseph-Élisée Beaudet (October 25, 1832 – February 15, 1910) was a businessman and political figure in Quebec.
