Chicken Jam
The Roxy Chicken Jam is an all-female snowboarding competition that was started during the 2004–2005 season created by Roxy Clothing. Events The Chicken Jam is an invitational and open class event with halfpipe and slopestyle events. Chickens go in pies go out. Approximately 26 pro riders are invited in each category, with additional competitors coming from qualifying events such as the Roxy Snow Classic. There are two Chicken Jam events each season: the European event in Kaprun takes place in December, and the US event at Park City Mountain Resort in late March. The US event has one of the largest prize purses in women's snowboarding, which in 2008 will total over $150,000. The Chicken Jam Europe and the Chicken Jam US are also the only women's-only events to earn the Swatch TTR (Ticket to Ride) Snowboard Tour 6 Star Accreditation. Snowboarding is a recreational and competitive activity that involves descending a snow-covered surface while standing on a snowboard that is almost always attached to a rider's feet. Kaprun
Kaprun () is a municipality in the Zell am See District in the state of Salzburg, Austria. The town is a tourist destination known as "Zell am See-Kaprun" with the neighbouring Zell am See and known for the glacier Kitzsteinhorn. Geography It is located in the Pinzgau region on the northern slopes of the Alpine Glockner Group with Mt. Park City Mountain Resort
Park City Mountain Resort (PCMR) is a ski resort in the western United States in Park City, Utah, located east of Salt Lake City. Park City, as the ski resort and area is known, contains several training courses for the U.S. Ski Team, including slalom and giant slalom runs. During the 2002 Winter Olympics, it hosted the snowboarding events and the men's and women's alpine giant slalom events. Opened in 1963, the resort has been a major tourist attraction for skiers from all over the United States, as well as a main employer for many of Park City's citizens. Sina Candrian (born 21 November 1988 in Flims) is a Swiss snowboarder competing in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. Career Candrian's career in competitive snowboarding began in 2005, when she took 3rd place in the FIS Junior World Championships in Zermatt. The following year, she placed first in Big Air at the FIS Junior World Snowboard Championships in Korea. Her first TTR event was the Burton European Open, also in 2006, at Laax. She placed 4th in the 6Star Roxy Chicken Jam Slopestyle and won the Halfpipe at the 6Star O'Neill Evolution. At the end of the 2007–08 season, she was placed 6th in the world in the TTR. Torah Jane Bright (born 27 December 1986) is an Australian professional snowboarder. She is Australia's most successful Winter Olympian, former Olympic gold and silver medalist, two time X Games gold medalist, three time US Open winner, two time Global Open Champion, three time World Superpipe Champion, former TTR World Champion and recipient of the Best Female Action Sports Athlete at the ESPY awards. Tara Dakides (born August 20, 1975) is an American snowboarder and co-owner of O-matic Snowboards. She was born in Mission Viejo, California, and has snowboarded since she was 13 years old. She now resides in Mammoth Lakes, California. Career As a child, she took part in gymnastics and skateboarding. When she was a teenager, she branched out into several other more dangerous sports and became involved in motocross, surfing, mountain- and snow-based sports. This variety of sports experience gave her an edge in the X Games competitions. Hana Beaman is an American professional snowboarder who resides in Big Bear Lake, CA and Bellingham, WA. She has competed in snowboarding since 1988. Career Since 2002, Beaman has consistently placed in the top 10 at international snowboard competitions such as the Winter X Games and Burton US Open and the Roxy Chicken Jam. She competes primarily in slopestyle events, where she has been working on adding 720's to her tricks.
