Chhabi Biswas
Chhabi Biswas (''Chabi Biśbās'') (13 July 1900 – 11 June 1962) was an Indian actor, primarily known for his performances in Tapan Sinha's '' Kabuliwala'' and Satyajit Ray's films '' Jalshaghar'' (''The Music Room'', 1958), '' Devi'' (''The Goddess'', 1960) and ''Kanchenjungha'' (1962). He is best remembered for his numerous roles as the quintessential aristocratic patriarch, and was himself the scion of a rich and cultured North Kolkata family. He was born on 12 July 1900. His father, Bhupatinath Biswas, was well known for his charitable works. His first name was Sachindranath, but his mother nicknamed her handsome son Chhabi (a beautiful picture!) and the name stuck throughout his life and career. Vidyasagar College
Vidyasagar College (Bengali: বিদ্যাসাগর কলেজ) is a state government-aided public college, affiliated to the University of Calcutta, located in North Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The college offers both post-graduate and under-graduate courses in a number of subjects of arts and science. Founded in 1872, it was the first private college (now governmental) in India which was purely run, maintained and financed by Indians. Naresh Mitra
Naresh Mitra (18 May 1888 – 1968) was a Bengali actor, director and screenwriter. Career Naresh Mitra was born in 1888 in Agartala, Tripura, British India. He studied law from the University of Calcutta. He started his acting career in 1922 in Minerva Theatre. In 1923, Mitra joined Star Theatre in Kolkata and starred in several plays mostly in the role of anti hero. He worked and acted in number of films of Taj Mahal company, East India Film and Kali Films. Mitra directed ''Devdas'' in silent version produced by Eastern Film Syndicate in 1928. This is the first film adaptation of Devdas, the novel of Sharatchandra Chattopadhyay. He directed few films starring Uttam Kumar such as ''Bou Thakuranir Haat'', ''Annapurnar Mandir''. Sisir Kumar Bhaduri
Shishir Kumar Bhaduri or Sisir Kumar Bhaduri (2 October 1889 – 30 June 1959) was an Indian stage actor and theatre founder, who commonly referred to as the pioneer of modern Bengali theatre, where he was an actor, director, playwright and even scenic designer. He was survived by one son named, Asoke Kumar Bhaduri. Dhruba Kumar Bhaduri and Shubha Kumar Bhaduri were two of his grandsons. After Girish Chandra Ghosh, he introduced realism and naturalism to theatre. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian honour by the Government of India in 1959. He refused to take Padma award, saying that if he takes the award, it will send wrong signal that government have helped promoting theatre culture in the country. ''Jalsaghar'' ( bn, জলসাঘর ''Jalsāghar'', "The Music Room") is a 1958 Indian Bengali drama film written and directed by Satyajit Ray, based on a popular short story by Bengali writer Tarasankar Bandyopadhyay, and starring Chhabi Biswas. The fourth of Ray's feature films, it was filmed at Nimtita Raajbari, in Nimtita , Aurangabad, Murshidabad.
