Cheviot Hills is a neighborhood on the Westside of the city of Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1924, the neighborhood has served as the filming location of movies and television shows due to its convenient location between Sony Studios and Fox Studios. The neighborhood has also long been home to many actors, recording artists, and television and studio executives. Geography According to ''The New York Times'', Cheviot Hills is bounded by the northern limits of the Rancho Park Golf Course and the Hillcrest Country Club to the north, Patricia Avenue and Manning Avenue to the west and southwest, and Beverwil Drive and Castle Heights Avenue to the east and southeast. Castle Heights, Los Angeles
Castle Heights is a neighborhood on the Westside of the city of Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1922, the neighborhood contains roughly 900 single-family residences, along with multi-family apartments and condominiums with a limited amount of commercial property. Geography The neighborhood is bound by Cheviot Hills to the west, Beverlywood to the north, and the Santa Monica Freeway to the south and east. The neighborhood's multi-family housing is concentrated along the southern half of the neighborhood, while its commercial buildings are concentrated along National Boulevard between the Santa Monica Freeway and Castle Heights Avenue, and along South Robertson Boulevard. History Castle Heights was established in 1922, and many of the single family residences date from the 1920s to the 1940s and were built in the Spanish Revival style. Pacific Electric Railway
The Pacific Electric Railway Company, nicknamed the Red Cars, was a privately owned mass transit system in Southern California consisting of electrically powered streetcars, interurban cars, and buses and was the largest electric railway system in the world in the 1920s. Organized around the city centers of Los Angeles and San Bernardino, it connected cities in Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Bernardino County and Riverside County. Santa Monica Air Line
The Santa Monica Air Line was an interurban railroad operated by the Pacific Electric between Santa Monica and downtown Los Angeles. Electric passenger service operated over the line between 1908 and 1953. After abandonment as a freight railroad, most of the route was converted to light rail for use by the Metro E Line. Route Los Angeles to Culver Junction Beginning at the Pacific Electric Building at Sixth and Main streets, the line crossed Los Angeles Street on a viaduct to reach San Pedro Street, where it turned south. It turned from San Pedro onto Ninth Street and ran to a right-of-way.
