Lincoln County is a county located in the east central portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 7,690. The county seat is Lincolnton. The county was created on February 20, 1796. Lincoln County is included in the Augusta-Richmond County, GA- SC Metropolitan Statistical Area, the Savannah River forming its northeastern border. State Route 44 (SR 44) is a state highway that runs southwest-to-northeast through portions of Jones, Putnam, Greene, Taliaferro, Wilkes, and Lincoln counties in the central and east-central parts of the U.S. state of Georgia. The route connects Gray with the central portion of Lincoln County, northwest of Lincolnton. Route description SR 44 begins at an intersection with US 129/ SR 18/ SR 22 in Gray, in Jones County. The highway travels from US 378/ SR 43 in Lincolnton northwest to SR 72 at a point southeast of Elberton. The Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) is a Media market, trading and marketing region in the U.S. states of Georgia (U.S. State), Georgia and South Carolina, spanning fourteen counties in Georgia and seven in South Carolina.
