Chen Ruoxi
Chen Ruoxi (; born 15 November 1938) is a Taiwanese author. A graduate of National Taiwan University, she among others helped found the literary journal Xiandai wenxue (''Modern Literature''). Works translated into English Mayor Yin Chen Ruoxi's most famous work (particularly among English-speaking audiences) is her short story collection, ''The Execution of Mayor Yin'', which was published in English translation in 1978. In addition to ''The Execution of Mayor Yin'' collection and the translations of individual stories from that collection, there have been English translations of several of Chen Ruoxi's other story collections, as well as of individual stories. Chen () () is a common Chinese-language surname and one of the most common surnames in Asia. It is the most common surname in Taiwan (2010) and Singapore (2000). Chen is also the most common family name in Guangdong, Zhejiang, Fujian, Macau, and Hong Kong. It is the most common surname in Xiamen, the ancestral hometown of many overseas Hoklo. Chen was listed 10th in the ''Hundred Family Surnames'' poem, in the verse 馮陳褚衛 (Feng Chen Chu Wei). Wang Chi-chen
Chi-chen Wang (; 1899–2001) was a Chinese-born American literary scholar and translator. He taught as a professor at Columbia University from 1929 until his retirement in 1965. Life and career Wang was born in Huantai County, Shandong province. His father Wang Caiting (; 1877–1952) achieved the Jinshi degree, the highest level of the civil service examinations and was a county magistrate in Guangdong, where Chi-chen lived for several years. Chi-chen studied the Confucian classics at home, then entered the middle school affiliated with Tsinghua University in Beijing in 1913. Upon graduation he proceeded to the United States on a Boxer Indemnity Scholarship Program scholarship. In 1922-1924 he studied at the University of Wisconsin and earned an A.B. in Economics. In 1924-1927 he attended Columbia University's business and journalism schools and the Graduate Faculties of Political Science, Philosophy and Pure Science. Yonghe District
Yonghe District () is an urban area in the southern part of New Taipei, Taiwan. Yonghe District is the smallest district in New Taipei City. It is primarily a mixed residential and commercial area. With around 38,000 inhabitants per square kilometer as of 2019, Yonghe is one of the most densely populated urban areas in the world. History On 1 January 1979, Yonghe was upgraded from an Township (Taiwan), urban township to a county-administered city of Taipei County. With the changing of Taipei County to the special municipality (Taiwan), special municipality of New Taipei City on 25 December 2010, Yonghe City was changed to Yonghe District. Geology The Xindian River forms a natural boundary between Yonghe and Taipei City to the north and east, although three bridges connect the two areas.
