Checkers Federation Of Armenia
The Checkers Federation of Armenia ( hy, Հայաստանի շաշկի ֆեդերացիա), also known as the Armenian Draughts Federation, is the regulating body of checkers (also known as draughts) in Armenia, governed by the Armenian Olympic Committee. The headquarters of the federation is located in Yerevan. History The Checkers Federation of Armenia is currently led by president Albert Poghosyan. The Federation oversees the training of checkers specialists and organizes Armenia's participation in European and international draughts/checkers competitions. In November 2019, the Federation hosted the Checkers World Cup in Armenia. The Federation also organizes national tournaments and youth training/championships. The Federation is a full member of the World Draughts Federation, within the "European Division". International Draughts
International draughts (also called international checkers or Polish draughts) is a Abstract strategy, strategy board game for two players, one of the variants of draughts. The gameboard comprises 10×10 squares in alternating dark and light colours, of which only the 50 dark squares are used. Each player has 20 pieces, light for one player and dark for the other, at opposite sides of the board. The Fédération Mondiale du Jeu de Dames (FMJD, World Draughts Federation) is the international body uniting national draughts federations. It was founded in 1947 by four Federations: France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. Members Currently, the FMJD has more than 70 national federation members in 2021. Armenian Draughts
Armenian draughts, or Tama, is a variant of draughts (or checkers) played in Armenia. The rules are similar to Turkish draughts, Dama. Armenian draughts, however, allows for diagonal movement. Rules On an 8×8 board, 16 men are lined up on each side in two rows, skipping the first and last row. From a player's point of view, the second and third rows are filled with men of his own color, and the sixth and seventh rows are filled with the opponent's men. Players alternate turns with each making one move per turn. Pieces initially consist of men only. When reaching the opposite side of the board, men are "crowned" to pieces called kings. A man can move forwards, straight ahead or diagonally, or sideways to an orthogonally adjacent field if that field is empty. The Chess Federation of Armenia ( hy, Հայաստանի շախմատի ֆեդերացիա), also known as the Armenian Chess Federation, is the governing chess organization in Armenia and is affiliated to FIDE. The body was founded in 1927. Responsible for organizing individual and club championships for men and women and the various important international tournaments in Armenia, it also forms the Armenian national men's and women's teams. The Federation is a member of the European Chess Union. History Founded in 1927 as a chess section, in 1959 it was transformed into a federation.
