Chauncey B. Little
Chauncey Bundy Little (February 10, 1877 – September 29, 1952) was a U.S. Representative from Kansas. Born in Olathe, Kansas, Little attended grade school and high school in Olathe and the Kansas State College at Manhattan. In 1898, he graduated from the law department of the University of Kansas at Lawrence. He was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced practice in Olathe. He was the city attorney of Olathe from 1901–06, and served as the county attorney of Johnson County, Kansas from 1909 to 1913. Kansas () is a state in the Midwestern United States. Its capital is Topeka, and its largest city is Wichita. Kansas is a landlocked state bordered by Nebraska to the north; Missouri to the east; Oklahoma to the south; and Colorado to the west. Kansas is named after the Kansas River, which in turn was named after the Kansa Native Americans who lived along its banks. The tribe's name (natively ') is often said to mean "people of the (south) wind" although this was probably not the term's original meaning. Harry Hines Woodring
Harry Hines Woodring (May 31, 1887September 9, 1967) was an American politician. A Democrat, he was the 25th Governor of Kansas and the United States Assistant Secretary of War from 1933 to 1936. His most important role was Secretary of War in President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's cabinet from 1936 to 1940. After 1938 Roosevelt rejected isolationism regarding Europe. Woodring quietly opposed Roosevelt and was eventually fired. Biography Harry Hines Woodring was born in 1887 in Elk City, Kansas, the son of farmer and Union Army soldier Hines Woodring. He was educated in city and county schools and at sixteen began work as a janitor. He attended Lebanon Business University in Lebanon, Indiana, for one year, which gained him employment as a bookkeeper and assistant cashier of the First National Bank in Elk City. Ulysses Samuel Guyer (December 13, 1868 – June 5, 1943) was a U.S. Representative from Kansas. Born near Paw Paw, Illinois, Guyer attended the public schools, Lane University at Lecompton, Kansas, and the University of Kansas School of Law at Lawrence, Kansas. He was admitted to the bar in 1902 and commenced practice in Kansas City, Kansas. He served as judge of the first division city court of Kansas City from 1907-09. He served as mayor of Kansas City, Kansas from 1909 to 1910. Guyer was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-eighth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Edward C. Little and served from November 4, 1924, to March 3, 1925. He was not a candidate for election for the full term in 1924. He resumed the practice of law in Kansas City.
