Chartered Institute Of Taxation Of Ghana
The Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ghana (CITG) is the regulator of the practice of taxation in Ghana. It is the only body in Ghana that can certify tax professionals. History The institute began operating as a professional body in 1978, and the Ghana Institute of Taxation was incorporated as a limited company on 2 May 1980. It became the Chartered Institute of Taxation on 8 February 2001. As of 2011 a draft bill was in the works to incorporate the CITG through act of parliament. The CITG and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) were the co-founders of the West African Union of Tax Institutes (WAUTI), launched in May 2011, with the objective of developing and promoting the taxation profession in West Africa. Chartered Institute Of Taxation Of Nigeria
The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) is a professional organization in Nigeria whose members are certified as qualified tax practitioners or administrators. Organization The CITN was formed in February 1982 and chartered by the Federal Government of Nigeria by the enabling Act No. 76 of 1992. Members of the institute may be Accounting, Legal or other professionals who have obtained the relevant tax expertise. The institute provides training and conducts examinations to determine eligibility. The CITN offers an Advanced Diploma in International Taxation to CITN members who work in international tax. The CITN has been criticized for not providing enough training to members at subsidized rates. Affiliations The CITN cooperates with the United Kingdom-based Chartered Institute of Taxation. West African Union Of Tax Institutes
The West African Union of Tax Institutes (WAUTI) is an association formed by the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Ghana (CITG) with the objective of developing and promoting the taxation profession in West Africa. A nationally recognized taxation institute or organization in a West African country is eligible for full membership. Inauguration The union was inaugurated on 11 May 2011 by James Victor Gbeho, President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The ceremony was held during the 13th Annual Tax Conference organized by the CITN. The first president of the union is Prince Rasaq 'Kunle Quadri, former president of the CITN. Speaking at the inauguration, Quadri stated that the WAUTI, which was being funded by the CITN and CITG, needed about $136,776 for the first year of operation. John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills (21 July 1944 – 24 July 2012) was a Ghanaian politician and legal scholar who served as President of Ghana from 2009 until his death in 2012. He was inaugurated on 7 January 2009, having defeated the governing party candidate Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2008 election. Alexander Narh Tettey-Enyo (was born on 6th June, 1940) is an educationist and politician. He has been the Member of Parliament for Ada since 2005 and the Ghanaian Minister for Education between 2009 and 2011.
