Chart Leacon Traction and Rolling Stock Maintenance Depot was at one time a railway depot located in Ashford, Kent, England. The depot was situated to the west of Ashford International station on the south side of the line to Pluckley railway station. The depot code is AF. History In 1987, the depot had an allocation of Class 09 shunters, and was used for stabling DEMUs and EMUs. Chart Leacon is now closed with its successor "Ramsgate EMU Depot" acquiring all class 375 stock. Allocation In 2014, the depot's allocation consisted of Southeastern Class 375/3/6 EMUs. Ashford, Kent
Ashford is a town in the county of Kent, England. It lies on the River Stour, Kent, River Great Stour at the southern or Escarpment, scarp edge of the North Downs, about southeast of central London and northwest of Folkestone by road. Ashford International Railway Station
Ashford International railway station is a National Rail station in Ashford, Kent, England. It connects several railway lines, including High Speed 1 and the South Eastern Main Line. Services are operated by Southeastern and Southern. The station opened in 1842 as Ashford by the South Eastern Railway (SER) as a temporary terminus of the line from London to Dover via Croydon. Connections to Folkestone, Canterbury and Hastings opened within ten years. It was renamed Ashford (Kent) in 1923. There have been two significant rebuilds; in the 1960s for the South Eastern Main Line electrification, and to accommodate international services in the 1990s. Pluckley Railway Station
Pluckley railway station is on the South Eastern Main Line in England, serving the village of Pluckley, Kent, which is approximately to the north. It is down the line from London Charing Cross. The station and all trains that serve the station are operated by Southeastern. Facilities The station features staggered platforms, whereby the 'up' (London-bound) platform is mostly west of the eastbound platform (on which the station buildings are situated). A footbridge links the platforms. The ticket office is manned only part-time; at other times a ticket vending machine is available. British Rail Class 09
The British Rail Class 09 is a class of 0-6-0 diesel locomotive designed primarily for shunting and short-distance freight trips along branch lines. The 26 locos are nearly identical to the more numerous Class 08 shunting locomotives but have different gearing, giving a higher top speed of 27.5 mph (44 km/h) at the expense of a lower tractive effort. They were introduced from 1959 to 1962 and latterly operated in the Southern Region of British Railways, although some of the class were originally allocated to depots in the Midlands and North. British Rail Class 375
The British Rail Class 375 is an electric multiple unit train that was built by Bombardier Transportation (previously Adtranz) at Derby Litchurch Lane Works, from 1999 to 2005. The class form part of the Electrostar family of units, which also includes classes 357, 376, 377, 378, 379 and 387, is the most numerous type of EMU introduced since the privatisation of British Rail.
