Charlotte Lindmark
Charlotte Lindmark (18 October 1819 in Stockholm – 2 April 1858 in Stockholm) was a Swedish ballet dancer and stage actress. She was regarded a member of the Royal Swedish Ballet in 1834–39, and engaged as a stage actress at the Royal Dramatic Theatre (1842–45) and the ''Mindre teatern'' (1845–58) in Stockholm. She enjoyed great popularity and was one of the most famed actresses in Sweden in the mid 19th-century. Life Charlotte Lindmark was the daughter of a poor milliner. She made her stage debut in the Children's theater of Anders Selinder. She became a student of the Royal Swedish Ballet in 1829 and ballerina in 1834. She was a popular and talented ballerina, but was affected by gout to such a degree that she was forced to retire in 1839. Royal Swedish Ballet
The Royal Swedish Ballet is one of the oldest ballet companies in Europe. Based in Stockholm, Sweden, King Gustav III founded the ballet in 1773 as a part of his national cultural project in response to the French and Italian dominance in this field; he also founded the Royal Swedish Opera and the Royal Dramatic Theatre. All of these were initially located in the old theatre of Bollhuset. The troupe was founded with the opening of the Royal Swedish Opera, which has served as its home since that time. Royal Dramatic Theatre
The Royal Dramatic Theatre ( sv, Kungliga Dramatiska Teatern, colloquially ''Dramaten'') is Sweden's national stage for "spoken drama", founded in 1788. Around one thousand shows are put on annually on the theatre's five running stages. The theatre has been at its present location in the Art Nouveau building at Nybroplan, Stockholm, since 1908. The theatre was built by the architect Fredrik Lilljekvist. Famous artists like Carl Milles and Carl Larsson were involved in making the decorations, and some of the interior decorations were made by Prince Eugen. The theatre's acting school, the Royal Dramatic Training Academy, produced many actors and directors who would go on to be famous, including Gustaf Molander (who also taught there), Alf Sjöberg, Greta Garbo, Vera Schmiterlöw, Signe Hasso, Ingrid Bergman, Gunnar Björnstrand, Max von Sydow, and Bibi Andersson. Mindre Teatern
Mindre teatern (''The Smaller Theatre''), Nya teatern (''The New Theatre''), Lindeberska teatern (''The Lindeberg Theatre''), was a Swedish theatre at Kungsgatan in Stockholm, active 1842–1863. The building was used as localities for the Royal Dramatic Theatre in 1863–1908. History The theatre was founded by Anders Lindeberg in 1842 after the theatre monopoly of the Royal Dramatic theatre was abolished. It was called Mindre teatern (The Smaller Theatre), as the old Royal Dramatic theatre was called "The Big Theatre", Nya teatern (The New Theatre), and also Lindeberska teatern (The Lindeberg Theatre), after its founder. It became a popular theatre, which rivaled the Royal Theatre. In 1863, the theatre was sold to the Royal Theatre and dissolved. Anders Selinder
Anders Selinder (4 November 1806, Stockholm – 6 November 1874, Stockholm), was a Swedish ballet dancer, choreographer and director. He was Ballet master of the Royal Swedish Ballet in 1833–1856. Life Anders Selinder was the son of the jeweler A. Selinder in Stockholm. Selinder premier dancer at the Royal ballet in the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm in 1829-46. In 1833, he was appointed ballet master at the age of twenty seven. He succeeded Per Erik Wallqvist, and worked closely to Sophie Daguin, who had previously shared the position of ballet master with Wallqvist and was principal of the Opera's ballet school. Together, Selinder and Daguin are considered to have upheld a high standard of the ballet. Anders Selinder has been referred to as one of the most noted ballet masters of the royal ballet. Jeanette Granberg
Johanna "Jeanette" Charlotta Granberg (19 October 1825 – 2 April 1857), also known by her married name ''Stjernström'' and by the pseudonym of ''Georges Malméen'', was a Swedish writer, a playwright, a feminist and a translator, who wrote plays for mainly the theatre Mindre teatern in Stockholm in the mid-19th century. She was praised as a great dramatic by her contemporaries. Biography Jeanette was born child of the writer and actor Per Adolf Granberg. She was the sister of playwright and theatre director Louise Granberg. From 1849 and forward, she was active as a translator and a writer of plays for the theatre.
