Charlie Barnes (Musician)
Charlie Barnes (born 31 May 1989) is an English singer and songwriter. He is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist performing under his own name, and currently as a touring musician with indie rock band Bastille. He has released three albums; the latest, ''Last Night's Glitter'', was released in July 2020. Career Born in Lichfield, Barnes developed an interest in music at an early age and studied at the University of Huddersfield. During his studies he began to play solo shows using electronics. In 2010, when completing his final year of study, he self-released the album ''Geekk.'', as part of his final project. In 2009, he befriended the band Amplifier and performed support slots for them. After moving to Leeds, he joined the band as a touring musician. In 2015, he signed to Superball Music and released his debut album ''More Stately Mansions'' on 11 May 2015. Leeds
Leeds () is a city and the administrative centre of the City of Leeds district in West Yorkshire, England. It is built around the River Aire and is in the eastern foothills of the Pennines. Alternative rock, or alt-rock, is a category of rock music that emerged from the independent music underground of the 1970s and became widely popular in the 1990s. Post-rock
Post-rock is a form of experimental rock characterized by a focus on exploring textures and timbre over traditional rock song structures, chords, or riffs. Post-rock artists are often instrumental, typically combining rock instrumentation with electronics. The genre emerged within the indie and underground music scene of the 1980s and early 1990s. However, due to its abandonment of rock conventions, it often bears little resemblance musically to contemporary indie rock, borrowing instead from diverse sources including ambient, electronica, jazz, krautrock, dub, and minimalist classical. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Bastille (band)
Bastille (sometimes stylised as BΔSTILLE) are an English pop rock band formed in 2010. The group began as a solo project by lead vocalist Dan Smith, but later expanded to include keyboardist Kyle Simmons, bassist and guitarist Will Farquarson and drummer Chris "Woody" Wood. After an independently released debut single and a self-released EP, the band signed to Virgin Records. Superball Music is a German independent record label, launched on 1 October 2007. Superball Myspace page states that Superball have attracted significant attention for bringing out Oceansize's third album '' Frames'', which was a commercial success, and for signing cult indie/alternative Texan band ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, in advance of their upcoming album due in February 2009. Lichfield
Lichfield () is a cathedral city and civil parish in Staffordshire, England. Lichfield is situated roughly south-east of the county town of Stafford, south-east of Rugeley, north-east of Walsall, north-west of Tamworth and south-west of Burton Upon Trent. Amplifier are an English rock music, rock band originating from Manchester. The band has released six albums and four EPs since its inception in 1999. Oceansize were an English rock band from Manchester, formed in 1998.
