The Charles Martel Society is an American white nationalist organization that publishes ''The Occidental Quarterly'', a prominent scientific racist publication formatted to look like a peer-reviewed journal. It also publishes the ''Occidental Observer'', which the ADL notes as a prominent online outlet for antisemitism. The Society also runs the book-publishing house the Occidental Press. It was founded in 2001 and is based in Atlanta, Georgia. It is classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. History The Charles Martel Society was founded as a nonprofit organization in 2001 by William Regnery II, an heir to the Regnery Publishing fortune. The National Policy Institute (NPI) is a white supremacist think tank and lobbying group which is based in Alexandria, Virginia. It lobbies for white supremacists and the alt-right. Its president is Richard B. Spencer. It has been largely inactive since late 2020, and its website has been inactive or dead since then. Activities The NPI was founded in 2005 by William Regnery II. Louis R. Andrews was the chairman until 2010. The Battle of Tours, also called the Battle of Poitiers and, by Arab sources, the Battle of tiles of Martyrs ( ar, معركة بلاط الشهداء, Maʿrakat Balāṭ ash-Shuhadā'), was fought on 10 October 732, and was an important battle during the Umayyad invasion of Gaul. It resulted in the victory for the Frankish and Aquitanian forces, led by Charles Martel, over the invading Muslim forces of the Umayyad Caliphate, led by Abdul Rahman Al-Ghafiqi, governor of al-Andalus. Several historians have the credited the Christian victory in the battle as an important factor in curtailing the Islamization of Western Europe. William Henry Regnery II (February 25, 1941 – July 2, 2021) was an American white nationalist political activist and donor, and an heir to a multi-million dollar fortune.
