Charles J. Osman
Charles Joseph Osman (April 15, 1851 – April 13, 1922) was a businessman and political figure in New Brunswick, Canada. He represented Albert County, New Brunswick, Albert County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1897 to 1908 as a Liberal Party of New Brunswick, Liberal member. Osman was born in London, England, was educated in Hertfordshire and later emigrated to New Brunswick. Osman married Laura E. Tomkins. He was the manager of a plaster mill and quarries at Hillsborough, New Brunswick, Hillsborough. He was first elected in an 1897 by-election held after William James Lewis was elected to the House of Commons of Canada. Osman served as speaker from 1907 to 1908. Clifford William Robinson
Clifford William Robinson (September 1, 1866 – July 27, 1944) was a New Brunswick lawyer, businessman and politician, the 12th premier of New Brunswick. He was born in Moncton, New Brunswick and was educated in Point de Bute, Saint John and Moncton before attending Mount Allison University. Robinson worked as a bookkeeper from 1886 to 1889 before studying law. He was called to the bar in 1892 and set up practice in Moncton. In 1897 he became both mayor of Moncton and a member of the provincial House of Assembly as a Liberal. He served as Speaker and Provincial Secretary before becoming Premier in 1907. The Liberals had been in power since 1883, however, and voters opted for a change in the 1908 election which brought the Conservatives to power. Donald Morrison (November 27, 1852 – September 4, 1920) was a merchant and political figure in the Province of New Brunswick, Canada. He represented Northumberland County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1903 to 1908 as a Conservative member. The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick is the presiding officer of the provincial legislature. Since 1994 the position has been elected by MLAs using a secret ballot. Previously, the Speaker had been appointed by motion of the house, in practice moved by the Premier of New Brunswick usually after consultation with the Leader of the Opposition.
