Charles H. Blosser
Charles H. Blosser (September 7, 1895 – December 30, 1989) was the namesake of Blosser Municipal Airport in Concordia, Kansas. A longtime airplane enthusiast, Blosser owned and ran the airport privately until transferring it to the city of Concordia. Blosser moved to Norway, Kansas, from Saline County, Missouri. On October 20, 1921, he was married to Isabell A. Collins at Belleville. Aviation accomplishments In 1930, Blosser laid the first dirt airstrip on his farm on what would become Blosser Municipal Airport. He later donated the land to the city for airport use. In 1935, Blosser was honored by the Concordia Chamber of Commerce for his "heroic services during the Republican River flood" in June of that year. Blosser would fly over flooded areas, acted as a spotter for rescue boats, dropped food to stranded individuals and acted as a shuttle service by flying people back and forth across the flooded river. Belleville Telescope
The ''Belleville Telescope'' is a local newspaper in Belleville, Kansas. It was the first paper in Republic County, Kansas, Republic County, established September 20, 1870, by J. C. Humphrey (some records show "J. C. Murphy") and at that time there were only two houses in the town. It was suspended February 1, 1872 and started again July 3, 1873 as an eight-column folio. Blosser Municipal Airport is two miles south of Concordia, in Cloud County, Kansas, United States. The airport was named after Charles H. Concordia is a city in and the county seat of Cloud County, Kansas, Cloud County, Kansas, United States. Frank Carlson
Frank Carlson (January 23, 1893May 30, 1987) was an American politician who served as the 30th governor of Kansas, Kansas State representative, United States representative, and United States senator from Kansas. Carlson is the only Kansan to have held all four offices. His political career spanned 40 years, beginning in November 1928 and ending in January 1969. Early life and education Carlson was born in 1893 near Concordia, Kansas, the son of Anna (Johannesson) and Charles Eric Carlson, both Swedish immigrants. He attended public schools and Kansas State University before serving in World War I as a Private. Career After the war, he returned to Concordia to farm. He was elected as a Republican to first the Kansas House of Representatives in 1928 and then to the United States House of Representatives, where he served from 1935 to 1947.
