Charles Forsman
Charles Forsman (born 1982) is an American comic book author. Combining a simple drawing style with dark and realistic themes, Forsman continues the tradition of alternative comics. He obtained a degree from the Center for Cartoon Studies in 2008. Career His self-published comic ''Snake Oil'' won the 2008 Ignatz Awards for Outstanding Comic and Outstanding Series. His graphic novel ''The End of the Fucking World'', "a modern ballad of angst and murder", won the 2013 Ignatz Award for Outstanding Minicomic and was adapted in 2017 into a British TV series of the same name which ran for two seasons. The End Of The F***ing World
''The End of the F***ing World'' is a British black comedy-drama television programme. The eight-part first series premiered its first episode on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom on 24 October 2017, after which the following episodes were released on All 4. Netflix handled international distribution and released it internationally on 5 January 2018. Alternative comics cover a range of American comics that have appeared since the 1980s, following the underground comix movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Alternative comics present an alternative to mainstream superhero comics which in the past have dominated the American comic book industry. Alternative comic books span a wide range of genres, artistic styles, and subjects. Alternative comics are often published in small numbers as the author(s) deem fit. They are often published with less regard for regular distribution schedules. The Ignatz Awards recognize outstanding achievements in comics and cartooning by small press creators or creator-owned projects published by larger publishers. They have been awarded each year at the Small Press Expo since 1997, only skipping a year in 2001 due to the show's cancellation after the September 11 attacks. SPX has been held in either Bethesda, North Bethesda, or Silver Spring, Maryland. Graphic Novel
A graphic novel is a long-form, fictional work of sequential art. The term ''graphic novel'' is often applied broadly, including fiction, non-fiction, and anthologized work, though this practice is highly contested by comic scholars and industry professionals.
