Maryland ( ) is a state in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. ''My Own United States'' is a 1918 American silent drama film directed by John W. Noble and starring Arnold Daly, Charles E. Graham, and Duncan McRae. It is based on the short story ''The Man Without a Country'' by Edward Everett Hale. It was distributed by Metro Pictures. The film was also the debut of Nancy Kelly who was a child actress at the time. The film was written by James Ashmore Creelman from an original story by Fannie Hurst. Plot As described in a film magazine review, St. Clair Van Tassel, a wealthy orphan who as a child had her every wish granted, develops into a beautiful but extremely bad tempered young woman who is wooed by many and loved by at least one. She breaks engagements with three men, but meets a different type of man in the fourth. When she attempts to break her engagement with him, he holds her captive in a cabin. The Headless Horseman (1922 Film)
''The Headless Horseman'' is a 1922 American silent film adaption of Washington Irving's 1820 short story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" directed by Edward D. Venturini. It stars Will Rogers, Lois Meredith (in her last major on-screen appearance), and Ben Hendricks Jr. It was the first panchromatic black-and-white feature film. There were three silent film adaptations of the story, but this 1922 version is the longest of the three, as well as the only one that survives today. Film critic Christopher Workman states "the obvious day-for-night shooting foreshadows the work of Edward D. Wood Jr. he filmis a motion picture that wavers between irritating and flat-out dull."
